POSTGRADUATE COURSES IN PEACE STUDIES AT THE CENTRE FOR PEACE AND
RECONCILIATION STUDIES, COVENTRY UNIVERSITY, UK

The Centre for Peace and Reconciliation Studies at Coventry
University is now inviting applications for the next academic year
(2006/07).

Coventry has gained a global reputation as a city dedicated to
peace and reconciliation, and our Centre is one of the key
institutions in the city working for peace. We are a centre of
teaching, research and related activities focused on deepening
understanding and promoting processes of peace-building and
reconciliation at all levels, throughout the world. Our work is
informed by the belief that in the struggle to achieve peace, the
transformative power of nonviolence is central.

We have a very dynamic and cosmopolitan environment with staff and
students from many different countries, as can be seen on our
website. We offer both theoretical and skills based courses and
encourage our students to apply their knowledge in practice as
peacemakers. Many students go on to meaningful employment in aid
agencies, NGOs, and other organisations working for peace and
reconciliation. Some students have also progressed to doctoral
study.

If you share this vision, then one of our teaching programmes could
present you with the opportunity to deepen your understanding and
obtain a postgraduate qualification. Our programmes include the
following:

1. MA in Peace and Reconciliation Studies (full and part-time)

This is a one-year full-time, or two-year part-time programme,

transformation and training agency Responding to Conflict. On the
course you will acquire a practical understanding of the causes and
dynamics of conflict situations and how to handle them.

The Postgraduate Certificate is delivered by means of a two-week
residential summer school at Coventry during early September.
Following this, students complete their assignments with tutorial
support provided through distance learning.

This course carries 60 postgraduate credits (30 ECTS credits) and
successful students can transfer these credits towards our MA in
