ARSENALE D'IPOCRISIA
RANDY ATKINS, Comedonchisciotte.net
all'Uranio Impoverito.
Afganistan.

tanto a preservare l'unità dell'Iraq, quanto a ricompattare l'occidente.
ponte verso Washington. I francesi avevano collaborato all'occupazione di
I tedeschi
ora possono unirsi nuovamente al grup po...

The US is Declining
An Interview with Ricardo Alarcon (Part One)
SAUL LANDAU, CounterPunch
... Elections were a pretext to extend U.S. control. I don't believe the
U.S. will withdraw. They can't give a sense they may abandon Iraq without
giving the impression of having suffered a big defeat. I don't think
elections solve political problems in Iraq. The U.S. occupation remains an
issue. Prior to the elections, CNN international had vast coverage of
voting elsewhere, Iraqis in the U.S., Australia and Europe. An d the
turnout wasn't that big. It may have been a very big fraud. One commentator
committed a Freudian slip referring to women voting, saying that Iraq was a
secular society and women were accustomed to exercising rights. In the
future, women may be deprived of rights in a religious society. But before
the occupation, women had rights...

Slaughter In Iraq And ITN's Descent Into Absurdity
David Edwards, MEDIA LENS
...On ITN's main lunchtime news today, anchor Andrea Catherwood reported
that 22 people had been killed in Iraq in two attacks on a mosque and a
bakery. The report lasted exactly 22 seconds - one second per victim. Only
the basic facts were given and the carnage was not included in a summary of
the day's major stories at the end of the programme. The 22 seconds were
followed by a 5 min ute 30 second report on the planned wedding of Prince
Charles to Camilla Parker-Bowles - a story also covered ad nauseam
yesterday...

Fury at the fuel station
Iraqis frustrated by shortages in oil-rich country
Arwa Damon, CNN
"No gas, no fuel. This is destruction, not freedom!" It is just another
morning at the pump at a fuel station in Mansuriye, northeast of Baquba,
where tempers of the weary civilians waiting for gasoline in oil-rich Iraq
are flaring. Dozens of men crowded at the locked gate say they have been
waiting for hours to fill their tanks. But who is responsible for solving
these issues? "Let Allawi come here, [interim prime min ister] Ayad Allawi,
Ayad Allawi, where are you? Where is the freedom, where is the democracy?
We've been waiting since 4 a.m. Why?" screams Salah Hassan Abbas. "Saddam
Hussein did not do this to us!"...

VETERANS FOR PEACE CALLS FOR BAN ON DEPLETED URANIUM MUNITIONS
International Labor Communications Association
.... An increasing number of studies has linked DU with Gulf War syndrome,
and DU is strongly implicated in birth defects among veterans' children.
Disturbing reports of suspected radiation-related problems among Iraq war
veterans are surfacing. Children in Afghanistan and Iraq are exposed to
radiation from DU munitions in walls, in soil, and, in one study in which
Dr. Rokke participated, from spent projec tiles scattered in city streets.
Babies have been born in these countries having no eyes and lacking crowns
on their skulls. Anemia, cancers, liver and kidney dysfunctions, and
infections due to immune system deficiences occur more frequently than
before the wars...

'My Name Is Giuliana Sgrena: I Write for a Newspaper Which Opposed the
Sanctions and the War Against Iraq'*
Luciana Bohne, Online Journal Contributing Writer
...Giuliana Sgrena's life is in peril in Iraq, where the horror has ceased
to be horrible because it has been so barbarically and unnecessarily
normalized. The illegal invasion of Iraq has indeed turned out to be that
ultimate Nuremberg-tribunal crime: the crime against the peace. From this
original crime, all others have derived. Well might we reflect on Sgr ena's
prophecy at the beginning of the war: "This is the most absurd of wars and
it will be a bloodbath." If only she hadn't been so damned right!...

Ahmed Abdullah Story
Cliff Kindy, Electronic Iraq
Ahmed knocked at the door of the CPT apartment, accompanied by his
translator. His family had been searching for his brother Mohammad for
three months without success. His translator had met CPT at a conference
last summer and suggested the family ask CPT for help. On November 7, 2005,
U.S. soldiers knocked at the door of Ahmed's home...
