New Bremen Peace Award

In autumn 2003 the Threshold Foundation in Bremen (www.dieschwelle.de)
will place for the first time the following award:

Crossing Boundaries / Bremen Peace Award of the Threshold Foundation
for exemplary commitments for justice, peace and integrity of
creation.

It awards persons, initiatives or projects for a special contribution
in one or several of the following areas: Reconciliation, human
rights, countering racism, social justice, integrity of the creation,
cross-cultural or cross-religious communication.

In 2003 three awards with 5000 Euro each will be given in the
following categories:

A: 	The Unknown Peace Worker
B: 	Initiatives with a special commitment for justice, peace and
	integrity of creation in 2002/2003
C:	Single persons (journalists, politicians, academics etc) which have
	considerably influenced the public debate about justice, peace and
	integrity of creation

The awards will be awarded in presence of the award winners November
2003 in Bremen.


Invitation for nominations in category A: Award for the Unknown Peace
Worker

This category targets at little known, small initiatives/projects, but
also at committed single persons working in the fields above with
special emphasis for unconventional initiatives at the grassroots
level of peace work. In this category the Threshold plans (beside the
award money for one of the nominated persons/initiatives) an
additional publication of a limited number of particularly convincing
projects taken from the overall amount of nominations in a brochure of
the Threshold.

Such a publication:
- contributes to the networking of such initiatives
- shows encouraging examples which contribute to imitation and further
  elaboration
- draws the attention of possible sponsors and supporters to such work

With this announcement we invite nomination proposals for the category
"The Unknown Peace Worker". In this category persons and organizations
can nominate themselves or others with the following information:

-	Description of the proposal and reasons for the nomination
-	Name and email-address of a person who acts on behalf of the
	nominated initiative and can be contacted for possible further
	information
-	A web site (if existing)
-	Two external referees (with names and email addresses), which may be
	contacted by the Threshold for information about the proposal

Nominations must be handed in till 30 April via email or bag mail in
German or English language at: Die Schwelle, Am Barkhof  32, 28209
Bremen/Germany (mailto:Luber at dieschwelle.de). The text of the
description and the reason for the nomination should not exceed two
pages, possible attachments should not exceed three pages.


Invitation for Nominations in Category B: Award for Exemplary
Initiatives

In this category we seek for initiatives or organizations with
exemplary commitment for the aims of the Threshold Peace Award
described above.

Nominations can be made by persons and organizations, which are
obliged to the aims of justice, peace and integrity of creation -
especially in the ecumenical spirit of the conciliar process.
Self-nominations are not possible.

Nomination proposals must be handed in till 30 May via email or bag
mail in German or English language at: Die Schwelle, Am Barkhof  32,
28209 Bremen/Germany (mailto:Luber at dieschwelle.de) and should contain
the following information:

- Short presentation of the nominating organisation/person
- Description of the initiative and reasons for the nomination
- Name and email-address of a person, which presents the nominated
  initiative and may be contacted for possible
  additional information
- A web site address (if existing)

The text of the description and for the reasons of the nomination
shall not exceed two pages, possible attachments shall be no longer
than three pages.


Invitations for Nominations for Category C: Award for public
contributions for justice, peace and integrity of creation.

In this category an award will be given to persons in the public, who
have shown sustainable and courageous commitment for peace and
justice, like journalists or academics but also politicians or
artists, regardless of their nationality.

Nominations can be made by persons and organizations which are obliged
to the aims of justice, peace and integrity of creation - especially
in the ecumenical spirit of the conciliar process.

Nominations must be handed in not later than 30 May via email or bag
mail at: Die Schwelle, Am Barkhof  32, 28209 Bremen/Germany
(mailto:Luber at dieschwelle.de) and shall contain the following details:

- Reasons for the nomination
- Documents demonstrating the public impact

The text of the description and the reasons for the nomination shall
not exceed two pages, possible attachments should be elementary in
their content.
