Injustice and arrogance in the case of Osama bin Laden 

We were surprised how President Obama  closed that case. We thought that he loved justice 
and wanted above all to act justly. Instead he led the U.S. to act as a predator nation. 

 

He invaded and violated the sovereignty of  Pakistani territory; he had neither advised nor asked for consent to carry out the violent military action that took place on that sovereign territory. 

Osama bin Laden should have been captured and submitted to the judgement of the International criminal court; instead he was executed. Even when he appeared at the window he was shot, then in his room was killed by shots to the abdomen and head. 
An act of premodern barbarism, which takes us back to before  Habeas corpus.

 

His body should have been returned to the family for burial, but instead was thrown overboard. His body was treated with no respect. Respect that even in war is always shown to the enemy when captured or killed; it is always shown to a human being.

 

Therefore this was not an act of justice but of revenge, a transgressive act to be condemned if done by a private citizen, inconceivable for a modern State, which owns and administers justice.

 

Pres Obama  has deeply disappointed and saddened us: those who stand for justice must 

act justly.

Ingiustizia e arroganza nel caso Osama bin Laden

 

Ci ha sorpreso il modo in cui il Pres. Obama ha chiuso quel caso. Pensavamo che amasse la giustizia e volesse anzitutto agire secondo giustizia. Invece ha portato gli USA ad agire come una nazione predatrice

 

Ha invaso e infranto la sovranità del territorio pakistano; non ha avvertito né chiesto l’assenso per un’azione militare e violenta che si svolgeva in quel territorio sovrano.

 

Osama bin Laden doveva essere fatto prigioniero e sottoposto al giudizio del tribunale penale internazionale; invece è stato giustiziato, Già quando si è affacciato alla finestra gli è stato sparato; poi nella sua stanza è stato ucciso con un colpo al ventre e alla testa.

Un atto di barbarie premoderna, che ci riporta a prima dell’Habeas corpus. 

 

Doveva essere restituito alla famiglia per essere sepolto; invece è stato gettato in mare. Non si è avuto nessun rispetto per il suo cadavere. Quel rispetto che anche in guerra è sempre dovuto al nemico quando prigioniero o ucciso; è sempre dovuto alla persona umana.

 

Perciò non un atto di giustizia ma di vendetta; atto trasgressivo e da condannarsi se compiuto da un privato; inconcepibile per uno Stato moderno, che detiene e amministra la giustizia.

 

Il Pres. Obama ci ha profondamente delusi e rattristati: chi impersona la giustizia deve agire secondo giustizia.
