Compas!

We're almost there! This week, people from all over the country will be arriving in Columbus, Georgia, for a weekend of protest, networking, healing and celebration. While SOA grads in countries like Honduras continue to oppress, threaten and kill with their money and their bullets, we continue the creation of a new world, through sharing ideas, strategies, laughs, puppets and memory.

Over the years, the workshops presented during the Vigil have made it a great space to learn more about the issues that face us and the alternatives that we are creating. The conference is a big part of the Vigil, so we hope that you don't miss it! All workshops take place at the Columbus Convention Center (801 Front Ave) on Friday and Saturday evenings. Here are a few workshops that will happen:

  • SOA Watch Plenary. This is the place to be to kick off the weekend! Hear about what's happened during the year and stay for the celebration of countries! Saturday, November 17, 9-10:30am, Ballroom C
  • Using Methods of Popular Education to Talk About Militarism. Presented by the SOA Watch Student and Youth Collective. Friday, November 16, 10-11:30pm, room 201
  • Update on Honduras, with Fr Melo. Saturday, November 17, 7:30-9pm, room 104
  • Labor Caucus. Saturday, November 17, 4-6pm, room 201
  • People of African Descent Caucus. Saturday, November 17, 6:30-8:30pm, room 201
  • Interfaith Gathering. Sponsored by the SOA Watch Interfaith Working Group. Saturday, November 17, 5:30-6:30pm, room 205
  • SOA Watch Victories in Latin America, with Fr Roy Bourgeois and Lisa Sullivan. followed by a live auction! Saturday, November 17, 9-9:30pm, room 207
  • Paraguay Update, with Dr Martin Almada. Saturday, November 17, 7:30-9pm, room 211
  • Film Screening: Harvest of Empire. Saturday, November 17, 5:30-7:30pm, Ballroom C
  • and many more on Haiti, Colombia, Guatemala, Occupy, the Environment, Drones, as well as our Friday and Saturday night concerts!

Hoping to see you there! It's not too late to find a ride to Columbus! FOUR MORE DAYS!

    In struggle,
    Nico
