Dear Friends,
The fruit trees of the village of Ertas in the Bethlehem region are
still under threat of uprooting. The uprooting is intended to clear the
way for the construction of the racist separation wall which will
confiscate 1000 dunam's of the village's lands. In addition, it now
seems that the amount of land confiscated is also determined by plans to
construct a sewage system for the neighboring settlement of Efrat. The
fear is that in addition to the land confiscation the sewage from Efrat
will damage the remaining trees. The trees in question are planted on
particularly fertile land on an area of about 600 dunams in some of the
most beutiful areas in the west bank.

The Abuswai family, numbering 400 people is requesting the help of
Israelis and Internationals in order to try and prevent the uprooting.
Please contact me soon if you can make it to Ertas during the week.
Saturday night is particularly important as it seems that the uprooting
is scheduled for Sunday.

Hussam, from Ertas, says, "The bulldozers are already waiting in the
field in Ertas to destroy our precious trees. It is a huge field of
tress that the army will demolish. All of this in order to clear the way
for a new sewage system for the illegal Israeli settlement of Efrat.
Soldiers came today and said they will destroy the trees tomorrow morning."

Please contact me if you can come to Ertas.
