This week there are many new items by Gilad
Atzmon and several exclusive interviews from Italian newspapers. There are some
willingly provocatory and provocative pieces, as well as some things that are in
the tradition of political satire.
Gilad
Atzmon - Beyond Comparison - You
don't have to be a brutal tyrant to want to commit crimes against humanity.
Hatred is alive and well in Israel in nice young patriotic families. Israel is a
country bad enough as it is, without making historical
comparisons.
Let's
go surfin' now - Some new sites that
Peacepalestine recommends.
Ran
HaCohen - Israeli intellectuals LOVE the war! - "All generalizations are wrong, except
this one: Israeli liberal intellectuals are against war. They have always been
against it, and they even suffered greatly for their critical views, as they
stress proudly. They were against the previous war, they will be against the
next war, they are against all wars. There is just one minor exception, though:
the present war, every present war, which they always support. Because the
present war – well, that's something totally different from all those other
wars! How can you even compare?! The present war is always inevitable, and
necessary, and just, and worthy of support."
Gilad
Atzmon - Operation Security Roof - This is the latest in a series of super-reserved documents that Gilad has
been able to obtain from Israel and share with the general public. This appears
to be a version of a press release or a journalistic dispatch, which is more or
less the same thing at the end of the day, and not only does it show the
creativity of Israel, it gives us a glimpse into the dynamism of a typical
brainstorming meeting of the top cabinet. To be informed is to be armed, as they
say, so brothers and sisters, arm yourselves and take a look at the latest idea
Israel has to guarantee the Security of the Jewish State.
Jihad
Abu Az Zamman - The Orator is Naked - "PM Blair, a man who already made it into the
history of British politics as a compulsive liar took the opportunity and used
the Los Angeles stage to preach his new message to the world. This time he is
teaching us ‘values’ and even ‘global values’. One may stand up and ask, “What
exactly are Mr. Blair’s personal values? Is lying to his people about WMDs one
of his values?” Is trying to rob Iraqi oil in the name of democracy just another
value of his? Does supporting Israel’s ultimate aggression against innocent
Lebanese civilians represent just one of PM Blair’s ‘global values’? Is
breaching the Geneva Conventions and invading Iraq while not being able to
secure its civilian safety Blair’s ‘ultimate global value’? Most importantly,
the more we know Blair, Bush and the ideologically flawed Neoconservatism, the
more clear it is that some of us indeed believe that killing others in the name
of a ‘value system’ is itself a value."
Prime
Minister Siniora of Lebanon interview an
exclusive Italian interview, “Hezbollah has been created by Israel.
Of course, not materially, but it provoked the conditions so that it would grow
and strengthen with the passing of time. Lebanon was occupied for twenty years
and Hezbollah have managed to account for its presence in southern Lebanon. It
has fed its consensus by setting itself up as freedom’s champion. It fought for
achieving the Israeli army’s withdrawal and it is still fighting that
now.”

Benny
Zipper - Kfar Qana as oy oy oy kitsch> "Thus all these Kitschy arguments in the
style of, 'Oy vey, what did we do, and how does our face look like to the
world', is a 'Polish Ladies argument'. What I think is that this war in Lebanon
is not just, not because of Qana, but rather because it was not just, right from
the beginning. It is simply bad form to enter a war because of two abducted
soldiers. It is also a conduct of a neighborhood bully rather than of a proper
State."
Wayne
Madsen - Lebanon and Gaza invasions planned last month in USA with top Israeli
officials "On June 17 and 18,
former Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Likud Knesset member Natan
Sharansky met with Vice President Dick Cheney at the American Enterprise
Institute conference in Beaver Creek, Colorado. There, the impending Israeli
invasions of both Gaza and Lebanon were discussed. After receiving Cheney's full
backing for the invasion of Gaza and Lebanon, Netanyahu flew back to Israel and
participated in a special "Ex-Prime Ministers" meeting, in which he conveyed the
Bush administration's support for the carrying out of the "Clean Break" policy
-- the trashing of all past Middle East peace accords, including
Oslo."
Israeli
Refusnik Interview Another Italian exclusive.
“The climate is very harsh. About 90% of population totally
approves of the war, I’m obviously referring to the Jewish population. It goes
without saying that the Palestinians of Israeli nationality have a different
point of view. We’ve been among the first ones who have promoted the protest
initiatives, indeed we’ve set up the first demonstration that has taken place
before the Prime Minister’s residence. There are mobilizations practically every
day and, in Tel Aviv, on the last two Saturdays, largely attended demonstrations
took place. As always, at the moment, only the most radical groups are taking
action.”
