‘Eyeless in Gaza’
What we look for in others is what we need to see in ourselves
John Kaminski
Sometimes it's hard — when you're standing amid the rubble of the latest
New World Order war zone — to determine whether things happen as a result
of somewhat natural social evolution, or whether some hidden hand from a
dark corner of the human psyche constantly steers us all toward misery and
crisis. Put more simply: Is it testosterone or is it Tavistock? (You know,
that British think tank that scrip! ted women's lib, the Beatles, Timothy
Leary et al to mime the populace into passivity.) The title of Aldous
Huxley's 1955 novel, "Eyeless in Gaza," alludes to the Biblical story of
Samson, who revealed to Delilah the secret of his strength — his hair — and
was betrayed to his enemies the Philistines. Deported as a slave to their
city of Gaza and blinded to make him harmless, he was forgotten until feast
day. By then his hair had regrown, and even blind he was able to pull down
the temple on the heads of the celebrating Philistines (and kill himself at
the same time). Is this a parable of the human future?...

The Second American Revolution
Mike Whitney
The deployment of mercenaries onto the streets of New Orleans is an act of
war against the American people. It has been accompanied by the equally
provocative order to strip the remaining survivors of their "legally
registered firearms", thus depriving them of the 2nd amendment rights. Who
appointed Bush as God? The safety and security of the city's people is now
in the hands of armed militias who have no allegiance to the Constitution
and whose relationship to the go! vernment is uncertain. These hired goons
are not required to conform to "The Military Code of Justice" or to any
legal and moral restrictions governing the conduct of military personnel.
There is no scenario, neither natural disaster nor terrorist attack, which
justifies the use of paid killers on the streets of America's cities...
None!

Meanwhile, in Iraq...
Dahr Jamail
For the last several days at least 6,000 US soldiers along with
approximately 4,000 Iraqi soldiers (Read-members of the Kurdish Peshmerga
and Shia Badr Army) were laying siege to the city of Tal-Afar, near Mosul
in northern Iraq. It is estimated that 90% of the residents have left their
homes because of the violence and destruction of the siege, as well as to
avoid home raids and snipers. The Fallujah model is being applied yet
again, albeit on a smaller scale. I haven’t received! any reports yet of
biometrics being used (retina scans, finger printing, bar coding of human
beings) like in Fallujah, but there are other striking similarities to the
tactics used in November...

Quds Press - Al-Moharer.net
Independent medical sources confirmed today that two minors girls died of
injuries and horrible pains after having been raped by US soldiers in the
town of Tellaffar, 45 kilometers west of Mosul north of Iraq. Quoting a
source from the Red Cross Organization, hospital sources indicated that two
cases of rape have been confirmed, and two minor girls were assaulted and
raped on the hands of the US Cavalry division which is involved in
attacking th! e Iraqi City since the last few days...

Statement of the Iraqi National Foundation Congress on recent bloodshed in Iraq
Imad Khadduri , Free Iraq
The Iraqi National Foundation Congress has issued the following statement
on the recent bloody terrorist attacks on civilians in Baghdad: 1- These
attacks, and the statements that followed them by those who claim to have
perpetrated them, are not far from other efforts to create sectarian strife
in Iraq that have so far failed, despite all attempts, due to the immune
collective Iraqi spirit and its inner cohe! sion, as was manifested in the
aftermath of the recent tragedy at Al-A'imma bridge. History will prove to
all who attempt to tread this venue that the Iraqis are more resilient in
their rejection of this sectarian path...

Mr. Galloway goes to Washington
George Galloway Tour - 9/13-24
...“We who live in the United States or Britain, only have to answer one
question, do we stand with the occupier, or with those who are resisting
colonial occupation.” “The swamp of hatred that our policies have created
in the Muslim world nourish the mutation of hatred that believes killing
innocent people in New York or London is somehow a blow against those
responsible in our countries for those policies. All we have done be
invading and occ! upying Iraq is increase the number of people who hate us
and the intensity with which they hate us.” “The US and Britain’s
unquestioning support for the State of Israel is the flaw that lies at the
heart of the West‚s attitude toward the Muslim world”...

To My Fellow Americans
End the war… End the negligence
Ibrahim Ebeid *
Iraq devastation and destruction, killing and maiming started a decade and
a half ago by the old man George Bush. This abominable act led to the
invasion and occupation of this land by George W. Bush the son. As a result
of this war that started in 1990 the people of Iraq were left with no
medicine, no sufficient food and without clean water. Chlorine was
forbidden to be manufactured in Iraq or to be imported because the enemies
of humanit! ies have no consideration for human life. The Iraqis were
forced to drink contaminated water up to this day. The weapons of mass
destruction that both Presidents George the father and George the son used
obliterated the country. The effects of these horrible weapons, the
depleted uranium, spread to engulf the American soldiers as well...

US attack on Tal Afar virtually ignored
Linda S. Heard
While the world has been falling all over itself to remember the victims of
9–11 and digging deep in its pockets to aid the wealthiest nation on the
planet recovering from a natural disaster, a ferocious man-made onslaught
on a town in northeast Iraq is being virtually ignored. This is yet one
more example of the double standards prevalent today when the color of your
passport can determine your worth as a human being. We saw this discrepancy
recently when 1,! 000 Iraqis—mainly women and children—who lost their lives
on a Baghdad bridge were a mere footnote in the Western media. And we are
witnessing this discrepancy now as our screens fill with images of
Hurricane Katrina and 9–11 commemoration ceremonies with next to nothing
about the horrors of Tal Afar, a stricken town in northeast Iraq, accused
of harboring insurgents...

Poll Shows Americans Want Troops Brought Home; Top Dems Ignore the Public
David Sirota
A new Wall Street Journal/NBC poll tells us what we already know: a strong
majority of Americans favor bringing troops home from Iraq. Specifically,
55% support a withdrawal, while just 36% back Bush's position that current
troop levels should be maintained. This latest poll is consistent with
other polls that show Americans oppose the war, want an exit strategy,
believe the conflict is damaging U.S. national security, and thin! k the
war is hurting the effort to win the War on Terror...

The Enablers
Chris Floyd
Four years ago, the United States was hit by a terrorist attack. Three days
later, the U.S. Congress signed away the people's freedom, writing a blank
check for tyranny to a ludicrous little man installed in office after the
most dubious election in American history. Last week, the poisonous
after-effects of this abject surrender took yet another sinister turn, as
Bush factotums in the courts once again upheld the Leader's arbitrary power
over the life and liberty of his subjects...

Iraq suffers severe water shortage
Mark Willacy
Known as "the land between two rivers," Iraq - and particularly Baghdad -
is finding itself in the grip of a severe water shortage. With temperatures
nudging 50-degrees centigrade, some residents of the Iraqi capital have
been without clean running water for weeks. The Baghdad Municipality blames
insurgent attacks and crumbling infrastructure, but those without water say
the problem lies with corrupt officials...

Why this soldier can't support this war
Justin Gordon, Antiwar.com
...The justification for Iraq frequently changes, and since the weapons of
mass destruction theory has been debunked, I have not heard a worthwhile
nor just reason for staying the course. Prior to the invasion of Iraq, the
administration told us that war was an absolute last resort, and then it
did everything it could to fix intelligence and convince America and the
rest of the world that our only course of action was to invade...

FEMA, La. outsource Katrina body count to firm implicated in body-dumping
scandals
Miriam Raftery, RAW STORY
The Federal Emergency Management Agency has hired Kenyon International to
set up a mobile morgue for handling bodies in Baton Rouge, Louisiana
following Hurricane Katrina, RAW STORY has learned. Kenyon is a subsidiary
of Service Corporation International (SCI), a scandal-ridden Texas-based
company operated by a friend of the Bush family. Recently, SCI subsidiaries
have been implicated in illegally discardi! ng and desecrating corpses.
Louisiana governor Katherine Blanco subsequently inked a contract with the
firm after talks between FEMA and the firm broke down. Kenyon's original

Locals, Officials Suggest Levees were Intentionally Blown
Steve Watson
Could the levees in New Orleans have been INTENTIONALLY blown out in order
to provide the justification for total FEMA federal takeover? The locals
certainly seem to think so, yet, as usual, the mainstream media is barely
picking up on this wave of opinion, so it is left to us once again to bring
the issue into the open...

The War Comes Home to Roost
Katrina and Iraq
Kevin Zeese, CounterPunch
...The ineptitude of all levels of government in their response to Katrina
closely mirrors the unmitigated disaster of Iraq. In both cases political
leadership ignored the facts. Predictions of the likely natural disaster in
New Orleans were ignored. In Iraq, the President and Congress ignored the
warnings of retired military officers, foreign service officials and
intelligence officials - as well as leaders from around the world - a! s to
the likely disaster of an Iraq invasion. The president went forward despite
these warnings and the Congress gave its bi-partisan blessing - and
continues to bless it - with repeated votes supporting and funding the war
and occupation of Iraq. Today the people of Baghdad and New Orleans share
many realities in common. Both suffer inadequate or polluted drinking
water, inconsistent electricity, insufficient medical care, toxins in their
environment and soldiers patrolling their streets with guns drawn, pointed
at civilians...

Looting By Any Other Name
The Profit-Driven War
BRIAN J. FOLEY
...Here's another answer to the question: We invaded Iraq to invade Iraq.
That's right, it's a circular answer. It might not be the only answer, it
might not be provable, but let's consider it: We invaded Iraq to have a
war. We had a war because there are powerful interests in our country that
are geared toward making money from war. How? Let us count the ways. There
are companies that help break things, by making the tools for violence and!
destruction, such as Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman. There are
companies that fix what gets broken, such as Bechtel and Halliburton. There
are companies that protect people as they break things and as they fix
what's broken, such as Blackwater and Vinnell Corp...

House Intelligence Committee To Determine Bush's Fate On 'Doctored WMD' War
Issueb
Dems in House want Bush to turn over all documents about fake WMD threat;
White House balks and ignores demand.
Greg Szymanski
After dragging its heels for months, the House Intelligence Committee
Wednesday began debating the issue on whether the Bush administration will
be required to turn over vital information about whether President Bush
doctored WMD intelligence, lied to America and misled the country into t!
he Iraq war. The House committee voted 22 against and 21 in favor of
demanding the White House turn over documents, demonstrating the strength
of the Republican-backed Congress when it comes to opening up a fair and

The Danziger Bridge incidents
Xymphora
...My best guess is that the police killed some people and used the Army
contractor story to cover it up. The victims are unlikely to have been
looters, but may have used guns in self-defense. The police story
inadvertently disclosed that people working for the army were up to some
mysterious job, a job that was supposed to be a secret. The helicopter went
to take a look at what was going on, and was shot down. Discrepancies in
the official story are starting to lead to theo! ries that at least some
levees and floodwalls were intentionally destroyed, theories that gain some
credence in that even the experts are baffled at what happened to the
floodwalls. Its a bit too convenient that storm surge gauges stopped
functioning during a . . . storm surge, thus removing inconvenient
questions about how a nine foot storm surge went over a wall designed to
stop an 11.5 foot storm surge...

Troops Out Now Coalition says:
‘New Orleans is an anti-war issue’
Deirdre Griswold
When Hurricane Katrina hit, anti-war groups were gearing up for a major
national demonstration in Washington. Within days, it was clear that the
people of the Gulf, particularly in New Orleans, had become the latest
victims of a government that will spend hundreds of billions on an
imperialist war while slashing funds for human needs at home. The Troops
Out Now Coalition here, which had a conference planned for Sept. 10 to
make! a final push for the national protest two weeks later, immediately
broadened the focus of its meeting...
