Un settore del Partito Comunista Iracheno appoggia la resistenza
www.resistenze.org - popoli resistenti
occupante...

Investigate alleged violations of law in Fallujah attack
IM MCDERMOTT AND RICHARD RAPPORT
...The means of attack employed against Fallujah are illegal and cannot be
justified by any conceivable ends. In particular, the targeting of medical
facilities and denial of clean water are serious breaches of the Geneva
Conventions. Continuation of these practices will soon confirm what many
already suspect: that the United States of America believes it is above the
law. Imagine a world where such ferocious attacks become ! common. Imagine
the Puget Sound region's hospitals and clinics as targets, our water supply
fouled. Imagine our outrage...

Fallujah: Orwell's 1984 Revisited
Edward W. Miller
...On another note, as the trial of captured Saddam Hussein approachs,
London' and Washington campaigns of vilification against him increase.
Britain's Tony Blair described Saddam's Bathist Party's "300,000 in mass
graves" but after reports by two international forensic teams, Blair was
forced to admit in Parliament that less than 5000 bodies had been located,
and just this week, after the US temporary administrator of Iraq, Ex- CIA
agent Allawi, had described to! the media "some 500 bodies in a mass grave
near Sulaimaniyah, " a city east of Baghdad, an official in the region
admitted to the press only two bodies had actually been found.
Misinformation was also one of Big Brother's bag of tricks in Orwell's
novel...

Il quotidiano del governo Saudita accusa l'esercito americano di prelevare
organi di Iracheni
MEMRI - www.resistenze.org
Un articolo di Fakhriya Ahmad, scritto a Bruxelles e pubblicato sul
quotidiano del governo Saudita Al-Watan, riporta, basandosi su allegati
rapporti militari segreti europei, che l'esercito USA in Iraq sta
raccogliendo e vendendo organi umani. La storia è stata anche pubblicata,
il giorno seguente, sul quotidiano iraniano Jomhouri-ye Islami, così come

UNNATURAL DISASTER IN IRAQ!!
A TvNewsLIES COMMENTARY
...As Iraq became a daily scene of death and destruction, corporations such
as Halliburton stumbled over themselves for billion dollar contracts to
rebuild the bombed out cities. There were no camcorder images of the
carnage to counter the outrageous claims of a surgical and humane invasion,
and there were no nonstop images of mutilated women and children and old
people. The reality of war was carefully hidden by the cooperative media.
And so it should be, in a! n illegal and immoral war...

"This is not a life."
Dahr Jamail
"The Iraqi Police are puppets of the Americans," says Abdulla Khassim, an
Iraqi man selling vegetables in central Baghdad, "Who can respect them when
they are so ashamed themselves many of them wear masks to hide their
faces."(...) Later in my room we watched a press conference on the
television with the so-called interim prime minister Iyad Allawi. A
journalist asked him if it was true that the cell phone service would be
cut on the 15th of this month because of the upcoming "el! ections." He
dodged the question…deferring it to the ministry of defense.

Fallujah residents angry over destruction
ABDUL-QADIR SAADI, ASSOCIATED PRESS WRITER
When Ahmed Hussein Nasser returned to Fallujah weeks after a devastating
U.S.-led campaign to retake the city from insurgents, he could barely
recognize the city where he had spent all 66 years of his life(...) "When I
see Americans in Fallujah I feel as if I am seeing devils in front of me,"
he said...

Why I Refused a 2nd Deployment to Iraq
Sgt. Kevin Benderman, Project for the Old American Century
...During the road march north through the country I saw the effects of
what war does to people, those effect are such; homes were bombed, people
were living in mud huts, people were obtaining their drinking water from
mud puddles along the side of the road and were catching rain in buckets
when it did rain, they begged us for food and water and we had enough, we
would share it with the people that were there, the ki! ds looked
especially hungry and thirsty...

Torture and International Human Rights
A roundtable discussion with Francis Boyle, Michael Mandel, Liz Holtzman,
H. Victor Conde, and Mark Levine
Boyle et al interviewed by Mark Levine, ZNet
As the Abu-Ghraib prison scandal began to pierce through the public
consciousness, Contributing Editor Mark LeVine brought together four
leading experts on international and American constitutional law to explore
the implications of the scandal and the larger issue of the violations of
international and Ame! rican law that have become part of the fabric of the
US-led occupation of Iraq. The extent of the daily violations of
international law, including systematic war crimes by the US (and of
course, other coalition forces and the insurgents as well), become
impossible to ignore when you are on the ground in Iraq, which Levine
visited in the early spring...

Ex-Baathists Play Crucial Insurgent Role, U.S. Says
John Hendren, Times Staff Writer
U.S. military commanders say a new assessment of the Iraqi insurgency has
led them to focus on 34 former Baath Party leaders who they believe are
financing and directing attacks against American troops and their allies.
Army Gen. John P. Abizaid and other senior Defense officials interviewed in
Iraq said much of the insurgent violence was being carried out by a network
of regional cells that loosely coordinate their operations wi! th former
officials of Saddam Hussein's ruling party...

New Photos and Video Unveiled in Trial of Iraqi Prison Abuse
KATE ZERNIKE
Prosecutors unveiled a new series of graphic photographs and videos today
showing abuse at Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq as they tried to portray the
accused ringleader of the prison abuse scandal as a sadistic thug who
punched detainees for sport, posed smiling next to the swollen and bloody
face of a detainee, and bragged about forcing an Iraqi woman to let him
photograph her naked...

The Nixon Option
Mikel Weisser, www.dissidentvoice.org
...On top of that comes news that the Bush administration is considering a
nifty little battle plan called "the Salvador Option" to try to turn around
the continuing quagmire we commonly call Iraq. For those of you unfamiliar
with it, the Salvador Option gets its name from the Reagan administration's
policies in the early 1980s in El Salvador, when our government routinely
sponsored "Death Squads" who kidnapped, tortured and killed civilians who
supported our! opposition. All in all US trained death squads in El
Salvador were responsible for more than 70,000 murders, each in the US
name, each with Reagan's blessing (...) BUT, that doesn't mean we have to
like it, nor does that mean he has to remain our president for four more
years, when four more months is far too long. I say that instead of
embracing the Salvador Option, we as a people should look into the "Nixon
Option"...

More Dissent in Pentagon Ranks Over Iraq War
Jim Lobe, Antiwar.com
For the second time in as many months, a report by a key Pentagon advisory
group has implicitly taken the administration of President George W. Bush
to task for major failures in pre-war planning, particularly with respect
to Iraq. A 220-page report [.pdf], quietly released late last month by the
Defense Science Board (DSB), concludes that the administration clearly
underestimated the number of troops and cost required to achieve its
political obj! ectives in Iraq...

'The scent of fear'
Bob Herbert, New York Times
The assembly line of carnage in George W. Bush's war in Iraq continues
unabated. Nightmares don't last this long, so the death and destruction
must be real. You know you're in serious trouble when the politicians and
the military brass don't even bother suggesting that there's light at the
end of the tunnel. The only thing ahead is a deep and murderous darkness.
With the insurgency becoming both stronger and bolder, and the chances of
conducting a legitimate electio! n growing grimmer by the day, a genuine
sense of alarm can actually be detected in the reality-resistant hierarchy
of the Bush administration...

In Good Conscience
A soldier who served with the 320th Military Police Company at Abu Ghraib
speaks out about the atrocities he witnessed
Scott Fleming, LiP Magazine
...I think racism is a key motivating factor in the war. We witnessed a
Marine kick a six-year-old child in the chest for bothering him about food
and water. People in my unit used to break bottles over Iraqi civilians'
heads as they drove by in their Humvees. A senior enlisted man in my unit
lashed Iraqi children with a steel ante! nna because they were bothering
him. The only way people can do these sorts of things - which would never
be acceptable in America - is [because of] the notion that Iraqis are
somehow related to terrorists and 9/11. We completely dehumanize them...

Baghdad, As Usual
Dahr Jamail
...I tell them both in the car, "I know this sounds crazy since it's such a
horrible situation here," as we drive past kilometers of cars lined up for
gasoline and people carrying jerry-cans in front of fuel stations, "But I
missed Baghdad and I'm very happy to be back." (...) The demolition of
Fallujah continues. Two of my sources inside the city, who live in
different neighborhoods, report that the military is now burning homes.
Apparently, they are finding booby traps, so they are! piling furniture up
in the homes, dousing it with fuel, and burning it. Nevertheless, another
Marine was killed there today...

Electoral Board in Iraqi province resigns, saying vote is impossible
Jackie Spinner, Washington Post
In another significant blow to Iraq's upcoming elections, the entire
13-member electoral commission in the volatile province of Anbar, west of
the capital, resigned after being threatened by insurgents, a regional
newspaper reported Sunday. Saad Abdul-Aziz Rawi, the head of the
commission, told the Anbar newspaper that it was "impossible to hold
elections" in the province, which is dominated by Sunni Muslims and w! here
insurgent attacks already have prevented voter registration. The province
includes the restive cities of Fallujah and Ramadi...

Baboons, Troops, and GI Resistance
Dan Raphael, www.dissidentvoice.org
...GIs are not stupid. The level of resistance being shown across Iraq and
within the United States itself already far surpasses what had occurred
after a comparable period of time had passed in the war conducted by this
country against the Vietnamese. Only in the last years of that marathon
atrocity did instances of "fragging"—attacks upon officers by enlisted
men—become a matter of public knowledge. This phenomenon had already
surfaced in! the Iraq theater, on the eve of the invasion...

Coble suggests pullout in Iraq
Stan Swofford, News & Record
U.S. Rep. Howard Coble, dean of the state's congressional delegation and an
avowedly strong supporter of President Bush, says it's time for the United
States to consider withdrawing from war-ravaged Iraq. Coble, a Republican
from Greensboro, is one of the first members of Congress -- Republican or
Democrat --to say publicly that the United States should consider a

A lawyer representing one of the alleged ringleaders in the Iraq prison
