Satan hides in a hospital

Everything one needed to know about the true, unspinnable foreign policy of
the second George W Bush administration is represented by the "capture" of
the first strategic target in the assault on Fallujah: the general
hospital, on the left bank of the Euphrates, now totally cut off from the
city. According to the Bush administration world view, this is the house
where Satan lives. Bush-installed interim Iraqi Prime Minster Iyad Allawi
announced with a smile of victory that h! e personally ordered the capture
of the hospital. So maybe it was not the Pentagon: it was an unelected
politician asking a foreign occupation army to attack a hospital in his own
country and preventing doctors and ambulances from entering a city under
siege. The assault, dubbed Operation Phantom Fury, perversely started on
Laylat e-Qadr, the most important and holy night of the year for the
Islamic world...

Medicines and food scarce for trapped civilians

Iraqis still living in the city of Falluja said yesterday that conditions
were deteriorating, with no electricity, food shortages and limited medical
aid for the wounded. "The situation in Falluja is a tragedy," one resident,
who gave his name as Ismail, told the Guardian by telephone. "People cannot
reach the clinics or the hospital and there are many wounded people. Most
people are staying inside their houses. The fighting is heavy"..! .

become the armed resistance to the U.S. military occupation of Iraq. Unable
to subjugate the resistance, U.S. plans to set up a colonial puppet regime
have fallen flat. This fact has generated a growing discussion within the
worldwide antiwar movement: What attitude should opponents of the U.S. war
take toward the Iraqi resistance? (...) I spoke on behalf o! f the ANSWER
Coalition and made the point that there are two sides in Iraq. On the one

maimed in Fallujah. The Pentagon does not bother to count its victims and
has imposed a regime of strict censorship, abetted by the self-enforcement
of the corporate media. However, from the few reports coming out of the
besieged city, it is absolutely clear that the basic purpose of the US
campaign is to reduce it to rubble, killing and terrorizing as many
inhabitants as possible...

In Fallujah, U.S. Declares War on Hospitals, Ambulances

In a series of actions over the weekend, the United States military and
Iraqi government destroyed a civilian hospital in a massive air raid,
captured the main hospital and prohibited the use of ambulances in the
besieged city of Fallujah. Saturday morning, witnesses in Fallujah reported
that an overnight air strike by US fighter crews had completely razed a
trauma clinic, which was recently constructed using Saudi donations.! Also
destroyed were two adjacent facilities used by health care providers...

... Leaders of the Council of Mujahideen of al-Fallujah have announced that
as a part of their information struggle against the US occupation troops,
Resistance fighters had filmed occupation forces prisoners being held by
the Resistance inside al-Fallujah. The prisoners who were filmed number 36,
and they include some US women soldiers. All were captured in al-!
Fallujah's industrial zone Monday morning. Abu Asad, President of the
Council of Mujahideen of al-Fallujah, announced to Mafkarat al-Islam's
correspondent that after filming the American prisoners, they gave the film
to the al-Jazeera and al-'Arabiyah satellite TV stations. The two stations,
however, refused to broadcast the tape for "security reasons." In fact they
were afraid of American reprisals against the their stations if they were
to broadcast the videotapes, as happened to al-Jazeera after they showed
film of US prisoners at the start of the US invasion of Iraq in 2003...

Aljazeera News Station Targeted

...Monday night, in an interview with a Fox News military analyst, Brit
Hume reported that Aljazeera's Fallujah headquarters would be "one of the
first targets" of the attack. Leaning over a large satellite image of the
city, Hume and the analyst plotted the two-pronged attack for the national
television audience. While pointing to a specific location on the map, the
retired general described Aljazeera as a "dirty little propaganda machine
for the insurgents" and said, "L! ast time they showed pictures of civilian
causalities; that's not going to happen this time"...
