APPELLO PER UNA MOBILITAZIONE INTERNAZIONALE IL 18
GENNAIO

La Coalizione ANSWER lancia un appello a tutte le
persone e organizzazioni che in tutto il mondo si
oppongono alla minaccia di guerra contro l’Iraq,
affinche’ cerchino di organizzare delle manifestazioni
per i giorni 18 e 19 gennaio, oppure quelli
immediamente precedenti o succcessivi, in concomitanza
con la manifestazione di ANSWER negli Stati Uniti.

ANSWER terrà una dimostrazione davanti al Parlamento a
Washington il 18 gennaio, mentre un’altra
mobilitazione di massa ci sarà a San Francisco.
Poiche’ ci si sta già organizzando in 150 citta’
statunitensi, ANSWER si aspetta una mobilitazione
ancora più ampia delle 200.000 mila persone che
parteciparono il 26 ottobre 2002 alla manifestazione
di Washington e delle altre 100.000 a San Francisco.

L’amministrazione Bush sta minacciando di sferrare
l’attacco all’Iraq non appena la macchina militare
sara’ pronta. Cio’ sembra che avverrà prima della fine
di gennaio. Se e’ possibile, vogliamo che la nostra
mobilitazione abbia luogo quando ancora puo’ essere di
ostacolo ai piani di guerra del governo.

ANSWER ha gia’ ricevuto messaggi di solidarietà e
comunicazioni di altre manifestazioni programmate per
questo fine settimana in tutti i paesi del mondo, da
Bruxelles a Tokyo, da Nuova Delhi a Il Cairo fino a
Bogota’. Chiediamo a tutte le organizzazioni contro la
guerra se possono spedire dei brevi messaggi di
solidarietà ad ANSWER, se possibile, prima delle
vacanze di Natale.

ANSWER e’ a conoscenza del fatto che, in molte parti
del mondo, le organizzazioni contro la guerra si
stanno preparando per dimostrare non appena gli U.S.A.
dovessero dare il via ad un’aggressione contro l’Iraq.
Anche ANSWER si sta preparando. ANSWER saluta quei
gruppi che hanno dimostrato il 14-15 dicembre, cosi’
come salutiamo le dimostrazioni che hanno avuto luogo
da Jakarta a Casablanca, da Londra a Firenze e le
manifestazioni programmate piu’ tardi per il mese di
febbraio 2003.

Temiamo, tuttavia, che l’amministrazione Bush ha gia’
in programma di colpire non appena potra’ fornire un
pretesto. Cio’ malgrado le sue difficoltà a disporre
del supporto diplomatico e militare internazionale e
malgrado la crescente opposizione negli Stati Uniti.
Percio’ speriamo che le forze contro la guerra nel
mondo possano tenere delle iniziative coordinate con
quelle che effettuera’ il movimento statunitense il 18
gennaio nella patria dei guerrafondai o spedire un
messaggio di solidarieta’ con questa manifestazione.

plus  some announcements of changes in specific plans
for that  weekend. Please give it your attention.

VoteNoWAr  appeal into French, German, Portuguese,
Greek, Danish, and  Spanish (and partly in Dutch and
Catalan).

CALL FOR INTERNATIONAL ACTIONS ON JAN. 18


The ANSWER Coalition calls on all those people and 
organizations around the world who oppose the
threatened U.S. war on Iraq to find a way in your own
countries on or  around January 18-19, 2003, to
protest as ANSWER protests
within the United States.

ANSWER will be holding a demonstration at the Capitol
in  Washington on January 18 and another massive
mobilization  in San Francisco. With people already
organizing in 150  U.S. cities ANSWER expects an even
larger protest than the  200,000 people in Washington
and another 100,000 in San  Francisco who marched on
October 26, 2002.

The Bush administration is threatening to launch a war
against Iraq as soon as the Pentagon's military
machine is  in place. This appears to be sometime in
January. If it is  at all possible we want our
mobilization to take place
when it can still be an obstacle to the government's
war  plans.

ANSWER has already received statements of solidarity
and  messages of other protests planned for that
weekend in  countries around the world, from Brussels
to Tokyo to New  Delhi to Cairo to Bogotá. We ask all
anti-war  organizations if they can send short
messages of  solidarity to ANSWER, if possible before
the winter  holidays.

ANSWER is aware that in many parts of the world,
anti-war  organizations have taken steps to
demonstrate immediately  should the U.S. open up
aggression against Iraq. ANSWER  too has taken these
steps. ANSWER salutes those groups  that are
demonstrating the weekend of December 14-15 as we 
salute demonstrations that took place from Jakarta to 
Casablanca, from London to Florence and the actions 
planned for later in February 2003.

We are concerned, however, that the Bush
administration has every plan to strike as soon as it
can come up with a pretext. This is despite its
problems in lining up diplomatic and military support
internationally and despite the growing opposition
inside the United States. So we hope that anti-war
forces worldwide will find a way either to hold
actions to coordinate with those the U.S. movement
takes on January 18 in the homeland of the  warmakers
or to send messages of solidarity with that protest.
