"CITY-REGION 2020: INTEGRATED PLANNING FOR A SUSTAINABLE ENVIRONMENT"
by Joe Ravetz, Manchester University, with a foreword by the UK
Secretary of State Michael Meacher
CITY-REGION 2020 looks at sustainable futures for human settlements,
through an in-depth case study on a large conurbation. It contains a
25-year development programme for each sector; technical scenarios for
land-use and resource flows; spatial analysis of settlement types;
lateral thinking on globalization and localization; and practical
actions for each sector. At the core is an 'integrated assessment'
toolkit for sustainability analysis, indicators, appraisals, mapping,
modelling and accounting. City-Region 2020 is a landmark for
practitioners, campaigners, researchers and students pursuing the
reality of sustainable development.
