Oltre sessanta eurodeputati esprimono solidarietà ad una coppia gay
israelo-palestinese.

Oltre sessanta eurodeputati appartenenti a diversi gruppi politici hanno
risposto positivamente all'appello lanciato da Monica Frassoni, capogruppo
dei Verdi/ALE al Parlamento europeo, ad esprimere la propria solidarietà nei
confronti di Fuad Moussa, un giovane palestinese che, se fosse espulso da
Israele, rischierebbe di essere ucciso dai suoi parenti fondamentalisti a
causa della sua omosessualità.
Attualmente Fuad Moussa si trova agli arresti domiciliari per aver scelto di
vivere a Gerusalemme con il suo compagno Yitzhak Ezra, ebreo israeliano,
senza avere il permesso di rimanere in Israele.

L'appello sottoscritto dagli europarlamentari chiede al Presidente di
Israele Moshe Katzav e al Ministro degli Interni Avraham Poraz di concedere
a Fuad Moussa un permesso di residenza.

Monica Frassoni ha cosi commentato l'iniziativa: "In un momento in cui le
parti non si parlano occorrono gesti di buona volontà per potere riprendere
il dialogo. Garantendo il permesso di residenza a Fuad Moussa le autorità
israeliane hanno l'opportunità di dimostrare che la convivenza è ancora
possibile abbattendo, almeno in questo caso, il muro dell'intolleranza e
riaffermando i principi di un vero stato di diritto".

Dear Mr. President,


we are a group of Members of the European Parliament deeply concerned about
the destiny of Mr Fuad Moussa, id 851611707, a Palestinian young man at the
moment under house arrest in Jerusalem at
the place of his life companion Mr Yitzhak Ezra. We know that Mr Moussa, if
expelled from Israel, faces the risk of being killed by his fanatic
relatives because of his homosexuality.
We respectfully ask You to let Mr Moussa stay in Israel and grant him a
residence permit, in order to save his life, considering that deporting him
would be tantamount to a death sentence, and to give him the possibility of
living as a free gay man, which he would not be able to do if he was in
Ramallah.
Mr Moussa and Mr Ezra have known each other for eight years and have been
living together for four years; an Israeli jew and a Palestinian muslim
living together peacefully in Jerusalem, in a relationship of mutual love,
friendship and care. Please let the hopes of this couple have a chance.
