la Convenzione ONU per i Migranti entra in vigore, vediamoci il 18 dicembre 2002

Cari amici oggi é un grande giorno,

come potete notare nei messaggi in fondo,
finalmente arriva oggi la firma e ratifica della Convenzione per i Diritti
dei Migranti Lavoratori del ventesimo stato-parte delle Nazioni
Unite(East-Timor).
Questa Convenzione é un punto di non ritorno sulle politiche migratorie
mondiali.

Quindi presto avremo un trattato in più in materia dei diritti fondamentali,
e questa volta si occuperà dei diritti dei migranti, sottoponendo i Governi
a standard diversi da quelli sinora adottati.
Le Organizzazioni Non Governative creeranno spazi appositi per discutere e
decidere, per proporre
soluzioni ed avanzare problemi irrisolti.

Cosa questo significhi nei particolari, e come le nostre diverse realtà
possano collaborare con le Nazioni Unite su questi temi d'ora in poi, Vi
proponiamo di scoprirlo con noi durante la presentazione dell'ultima
pubblicazione della Casa Diritti Sociali: la traduzione italiana integrale
della

-Convenzione ONU per i diritti dei migranti lavoratori,

-che si terrà presso la sede di Via dei Mille 6, Roma, il giorno 18 dicembre
2002 alle ore 17,00. nella Giornata Internazionale dei Migranti

-a tutti i partecipanti verrà distribuita copia della Convenzione e si terrà
un incontro con ospiti internazionali che ne spiegheranno il contenuto, i
pregi, i limiti.

Though the official deposit of the accession instrument has not been
made yet, we have news from our colleague at the ICFTU, Anna Biondi,
that according to the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights
here in Geneva, East Timor has ratified -- making it the 2oth!
