No one will ask the Serbs: Rugova
15:00 BERLIN, Sunday -- "Negotiations seem senseless and useless to me",
leader of Kosovo Democratic alliance Ibrahim Rugova told the German weekly Der
Spiegel, commenting FRY President Vojislav Koštunica's initiation for talks.
However, Rugova did not exclude the possibility of talks "on lower levels" on
the "normalization of relations between the two independent states".
According to Srna, Rugova is of opinion that Kosovo's independence "cannot be
subject to discussion".
"No one will ask the Serbs, no one needs their approval. They simply have to
accept the international community's decision", he said.
However, the Kosovo Albanians' leader, whose party won the 58 percent of the
votes in the local October elections, did say the Serbs and Albanians would
have equal rights in Kosovo, but that nothing can be done to change the fact
that "they'll have to live in ghettoes, protected by the K-for peace troops".
Rugova judged NATO would "stay in Kosovo forever" for peace troops are a
necessity for Kosovo:
"NATO is our private army", said Rugova in an interview with Der Spiegel.
