...Clashes erupted on the highway near the Muhammad al-Qasim Bridge in
central Baghdad early Thursday. In a report posted at 1:07am Friday morning
Mecca time, the Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent wrote that at 5am Thursday
morning, the clashes took place in Baghdad and resulted in the destruction
of a pickup truck belonging to the puppet "national guard" and ! three
other vehicles belonging to the puppet forces. In addition a small troop
transport was destroyed, as were three busses carrying troops, two of them
Hyundais, and one Mitsubishi...

Iraq political party seeks relations with Israel

A new Iraqi political party calling for the establishment of diplomatic
relations with Israel will compete in the upcoming elections in Iraq.
Mithal al-Alusi, an Iraqi politician who visited Israel a few months ago,
heads the new Iraqi Nation Democrat Party. According to Alusi, 1,150 people
have signed the party's request to the elections committee to participate
in the elections. "We are keeping Iraqi interests in sight. These int!
erests includes strategic relations with the United States and also ties
with Israel," Alusi Said...

Britain Pushed to Publish Iraq Abuse Findings

investigations into reportedly cases of abuses by British forces against

Two opponents of the US occupation assassinated in Iraq

Two leading members of the Association of Muslim Scholars (AMS)—an
organisation of 3,000 Sunni Muslim clerics calling for a boycott of the
January 30 Iraqi elections—were assassinated this week (...) It is not
known who carried out the killings. Suspicion, however, must fall upon the
US-led occupation forces. They have the necessary personnel and the
motive—silencing opposition to the rigged elections. The individual
installed by the US to ! head the Iraqi interim government, Iyad Allawi,
has been described as a thug even by American officials. Nothing about his
history gives any reason to doubt that he is capable of ordering the murder
of political opponents...

US report: Nearly 21,000 US casualties

Nearly 21,000 wounded US troops have been treated at the Landstuhl Regional
Medical Centre, a US military newspaper said. "As of Tuesday, 20,802 troops
have been treated at Landstuhl from injuries received in Operations Iraqi
Freedom and Enduring Freedom," writes Ben Murray for the US military's
Stars and Stripes European edition newspaper. The 26 November report did
not provide information on the number of military fatalities...

Press Routinely Undercounts U.S. Casualties in Iraq

As the toll of Americans killed and wounded in Iraq in November approaches
record levels for one month in this war, is the press only telling part of
the story? The Pentagon's latest official count, provided on Wednesday,
listed 1230 American military killed in Iraq and another 9300 U.S. troops
wounded in action. How seriously? More than 5000 of them were too badly
injured to return to duty. More than 850 troops were reported to have been
wounded in ac! tion in Falluja so far. But this only scratches the surface
of the total toll...

On November 12, as U.S. jets bombed Falluja for the ninth straight day, a
Redwood City California jury found Scott Peterson guilty of murdering his
wife and unborn child. That macabre theme captured the headlines and
dominated conversation throughout workplaces and homes. Indeed, Peterson
"news" all but drowned out the U.S. military's claim that successful
bombing and shelling of a city of 300,000 residents had struck only sites
where "in! surgents" had holed up. On November 15, the BBC embedded newsman
with a marine detachment claimed that the unofficial death toll estimate
had risen to well over 2,000, many of them civilians...

'Unusual Weapons' Used in Fallujah

The U.S. military has used poison gas and other non-conventional weapons
against civilians in Fallujah, eyewitnesses report.. "Poisonous gases have
been used in Fallujah," 35-year-old trader from Fallujah Abu Hammad told
IPS. "They used everything -- tanks, artillery, infantry, poison gas.
Fallujah has been bombed to the ground." Hammad is from the Julan district
of Fallujah where some of the heaviest fighting occurred. Other residents

Baghdad close to the resistance swear the mujahideen still control at least
half of the city - the whole southern part plus the alleyways. The
Americans, desperate to impose some m! easure of control, have launched

Blix Urges Caution over Iraq 'Chemical Weapons Lab'

Four Killed in Baghdad's Green Zone

A mortar attack killed four employees of a British security firm and
wounded at least 12 in Baghdad's Green Zone, a fortified area that houses
the U.S. and Iraqi leadership, the company and British officials said
Friday. An extremist group that claimed the August killings of 12 Nepalese
workers said in a Web posting it was behind the attack. In Fallujah,
insurgents ambushed U.S. troops as they entered a home during

and wounding three others, the U.S. military said Friday. Meanwhile,
resistance to holding the Jan. 30 elections grew Friday when 17 political
parties demanded postponing the vote for at least six months until the

Fallujah insurgents claim to have resumed attacks

Saddam's legal team slams ICRC
