Iraqis dispute US progress in Falluja

A spokesman for the Falluja resistance says US forces are at an impasse in
the city, and denies the US offensive against the town has succeeded.
Speaking to Aljazeera by telephone on Saturday, the spokesman said the US
military was suffering increasing numbers of casualties. "The announcement
of the end of the military offensive is proof that American forces are in
an impasse ... the American criminals and the Iraqi apostates have suffered
more than 150 killed ! and more than 270 wounded," said Abu Saad al-Dlimi,
spokesman of the Shura (consultative) Council of the Muhajidin in Falluja...

Three marines die in booby-trapped building in Fallujah: officer

Three marines have been killed in an explosion as they entered a
booby-trapped building in central Fallujah, while another 13 were wounded
in a firefight nearby, a marine officer said. Of the 13, 10 were seriously
injured in the gun battle just south of the main road that cuts through the
centre of the Sunni Muslim bastion, the officer told AFP on condition of
anonymity...

Falluja relief convoy appeals to UN

An Iraqi Red Crescent convoy with emergency supplies for residents of
Falluja, after being disallowed to enter the town by US forces despite
repeated pleas, has appealed to the UN. US troops have directed the convoy
into the Falluja hospital on the outskirts of the town, away from the reach
of local citizens. Abu Fahd, a member of the relief convoy, told Aljazeera
that "the relief convoy wants to enter Falluja town for humanitarian
purposes only, to save women, ch! ildren and elderly people"...

US troops 'preventing aid supply' to Falluja

US troops are preventing a Red Crescent convoy of emergency aid from
reaching helpless residents inside Falluja, a spokeswoman said (...) "They
are in the general hospital, but until now the Americans will not let them
distribute medical supplies in the city," al Abadi said, referring to the
team of some 50 volunteers and three doctors that has travelled from
Baghdad to Falluja. Doctor Jamal al-Karbuli, the secretary-general of the
Iraqi Red Crescent, "is! negotiating with the Americans to let them
distribute the supplies to the people", al-Abadi told AFP...

US wounded in Falluja hits 412

More than 70 US soldiers, most of them injured in Falluja, have been flown
from Iraq to a military hospital in Germany. A C-141 transport plane
brought the 73 newest patients to the US Air Force's Ramstein base on
Saturday morning. The 73 new patients at the US military's Landstuhl
Regional Medical Centre pushed the number of arrivals this week to 412,
nearly all of whom were injured in Falluja, according to a hospital
spokeswoman...
