A statement by the Organization of Friendship, Peace and solidarity / Iraq
Al-Moharer
A year and half after the colonialist-Zionist Occupation of Iraq, the
removal of its national régime and the destruction of the Iraqi state, its
pillage and the murder of thousands of civilians, torturing millions,
arresting and raping women, men and children and abusing them sexually, the
Friendship, Peace and Solidarity Organization in Iraq (OFPSI) which is the
largest and most important Non Governmental Organization (NGO) in ! Iraq,
resumes its activities after a forceful interruption due to the exceptional
conditions of the Occupation, which led the Occupation trained gangsters to
assassinate many of the Friendship Organizations decision makers and chief
executives, and the looting of the Organization Headquarters, burning its
archives and the lists of organizations of the same interest such as the
Arab Solidarity Committee, the Council of World Peace, the world National
Peace Councils and other Friendship associations with Foreign Countries,
not mentioning the arrest of scores of their employees, and the hijacking
of its name by Zionists exploiting it to back the Occupiers...

Time "nearly up" for Falluja
Alistair Lyon
Iraq's interim Prime Minister Iyad Allawi says a showdown is imminent in
the western city of Falluja, where U.S. marines are poised to assault
insurgents and Islamist militants. He said the government was still
offering an olive branch, but told a news conference: "Our patience is
running thin"...

Iftar Banquets Vanishing in Occupied Iraq
Samir Haddad, IOL Correspondent
Iraqi mosques used to host collective iftar banquets in a show of
solidarity among fellow Muslims during the holy fasting month of Ramadan
but under the US-led occupation of the oil-rich Arab country this is no
more possible. Many Iraqis have steered clear of iftar banquets, which
bring together a quite large number of people to break the fast together,
fearing indiscriminate US bombardment and trigger-happy American so!
ldiers, especially in flashpoint areas...

Israeli secret agents liquidate 310 Iraqi scientists
Mathaba.Net
More than 310 Iraqi scientists are thought to have perished at the hands of
Israeli secret agents in Iraq since fall of Baghdad to US troops in April
2003, a seminar has found. The seminar, held in Cairo, was attended by
politicians, journalists and experts with an interest in current Iraqi
affairs. The experts said they had detected an organized campaign aimed at
"liquidating Iraqi scientists" in the past 18 months and most of them
pointed the fing! er at the Israeli secret police service, the Mossad...

Reflections on America on the eve of the Elections
Ibrahim Ebeid, Al-Moharer
As an American citizen from Arab origin I find myself torn up between the
Country of my origin and my adopted country (...) I was forced to leave my
country of origin, because my adopted country, the United States of
America, chose to support the Zionists to occupy my country of origin,
Palestine (...) The United States of America occupied Iraq for two reasons,
one reason was to destroy Iraq, which always has stood with the
Palestinians! and supported them through the years of bitter struggle
against the most racist movement that ever existed, Zionism espoused with
US Imperialism...

Group Warned U.S. of Unsecured Weapons
WILLIAM J. KOLE, AP
Human Rights Watch said Saturday it alerted the U.S. military to a cache of
hundreds of warheads containing high explosives in Iraq in May 2003, but
that officials seemed uninterested and still hadn't secured the site 10
days later. The disclosure, made by a senior leader of the New York-based
group, raised new questions about the willingness or ability of U.S.-led
forces to secure known stashes of dangerous weapons in Iraq...

Major assault heralded as US artillery pounds Falluja
Jason Burke, The Observer
Fierce fighting killed eight American soldiers and wounded at least seven
more yesterday as reports indicated that the long-awaited US assault on the
insurgent-held city of Falluja had begun.
US warplanes and artillery pounded targets in the city amid prolonged
clashes with insurgents. A marine at a nearby US base described the strikes
as the heaviest artillery bombardment he had heard in two months. At least
a dozen airstrikes hit a southeastern district of the Sunni Muslim city
during the afternoon, witnesses said...

In Iraq, U.S. Officials Cite Obstacles to Victory
ERIC SCHMITT, The New York Times
Senior American military commanders and civilian officials in Iraq are
speaking more candidly about the hurdles that could jeopardize their plans
to defeat an adaptive and tenacious insurgency and hold elections in
January. Outwardly, they give an upbeat assessment that the
counterinsurgency is winnable. But in interviews with 15 of the top
American generals, admirals and embassy officials conducted in Iraq in late
October, many d! escribed risks that could worsen the security situation
and derail the political process that they are counting on to help quell
the insurgency...

Prisoner abuse 'to instill fear'
The Australian
US navy commando testified that he and other members of an elite SEAL team
punched, kicked and struck a hooded and handcuffed Iraqi prisoner captured
during a nighttime raid to "instill fear". The captive died a short time
later in the Abu Ghraib prison. The commando, identified only by his rank
as a hospital corpsman, was a surprise witness during a military pre-trial
hearing today for another member of the Navy Sea, Air Land unit known as
SEAL Team-7 accused of ab! using prisoners in Iraq...

Al-Fallujah, You Will Surely Win a Great Victory!
John Paul Cupp, Al-Moharer
Al-Fallujah, how the Zionist United States of America wildly dreams of your
subjugation! Despite all the obstacles that you are confronting, you speak
for all of us. Purging the occupiers from the land of the Two Rivers you,
and the rest of Iraq, will be free. The Arabs will be united in one single
nation. Imperialism and Zionism are doomed and will be defeated and the era
of independence and liberation will triumph. History has shown th! at your

Sadr cleric urges supporters to vote
Charles Clover, Financial Times
Tens of thousands of Friday worshippers in the Sadr City neighbourhood of
Baghdad were told to vote in January elections by a representative of
Moqtada al-Sadr, the clearest sign yet the radical Shia cleric has given up
armed struggle and intends to channel his aggression into mainstream
politics (...) The Friday sermon in Sadr City is a political statement
carefully vetted by Mr Sadr's group. Friday's speech contained the seeds of
what many see! as Mr Sadr "cashing in his chips" - taking advantage of the
popularity and nationalist credentials accumulated in six months of clashes
with US forces and entering politics...

WHAT PRICE APATHY?
MEDIA INDIFFERENCE TO IRAQI DEATHS
TvNewsLIES.org
...But where is the outrage at the indifferent and wanton slaughter of
100,000 people who were in no way involved in 9/11? Where is the horror
that the Bush/PNAC warmongers are responsible for more than 300 times the
lives lost on 9/11? There is never any mention in the media of the maimed
or the horribly wounded Iraqis, either. No surprise, - we get no truth, no
facts and no images of the horror that is Iraq...

Iraqi Resistance Report for events of Tuesday, 26 October 2004 through
Friday, 29 October 2004
Translated and/or compiled by Muhammad Abu Nasr, member editorial board The
Free Arab Voice
An Iraqi Resistance car bomb exploded as an American military column coming
from Saddam International Airport was proceeding along the Airport Road at
8:55pm Tuesday night. The local correspondent of Mafkarat al-Islam reported
that a Humvee and an American GMC vehicle, in which an officer was believed
to have been riding, was tot! ally destroyed. Seven US troops were killed
in the bombing. Afterwards American forces closed off the area with armored
vehicles and Humvees, as helicopters crisscrossed the skies overhead ......

Huge Iraqi Civilian Deaths - Democratic Imperialism Kills
Gideon Polya, Media Monitors Network
... A simple example from UNICEF data reveals the horrendous magnitude of
the human cost in Iraq and Afghanistan of what has been described by a
noted proponent of the US- and UK-led Coalitions as "democratic
imperialism" (I would prefer the more precise term of "democratic
Nazism")...

Help get Iraq war crimes investigated.
Peter Ravenscroft
...If you do not like what is happening in Iraq, or in other current wars,
there is one very real thing that you can do about it. You can write a
letter to the President of the International Court at The Hague, and ask
him to get his court's public prosecutor to investigate Tony Blair, John
Howard and Elizabeth Windsor, as possible war criminals (...) The Secretary
General of the United Nations has said, presumably on sound and serious
legal advice, that th! e invasion of Iraq was illegal in terms of
international law. As Britain and Australia are both signatories to the
Rome Accords, by definition, it would seem to me, the people who instigated
that invasion may be war criminals...

Nearly visiting Iraq
Felicity Arbuthnot, www.globalresearch.ca
...As for Tareq Aziz, I have a personal memory of an interview with him for
a Middle East magazine. He has a heart ailment and was clearly unwell. A
doctor was waiting outside, should he be taken ill. Aziz suddenly broke off
and said: 'Madam Felicity, when I was ten years old, I was leafletting in
Baghdad; putting fliers through doors, to stop Britain getting her hands on
Iraq's oil. I am not about to give up on Iraq now.' He didn't, but ill and
like ! the rest of a sovereign government, illegally overthrown and
imprisoned in an act which will surely render generations of historians
aghast, most of his foreign friends have moved on and lifted not a finger
to help...

Halloween Tidings From the "War on Terror"
Jim Lobe, www.dissidentvoice.org
...The investigation found that the most common causes of death before the
invasion were heart attacks, strokes and chronic diseases. But after the
invasion, violence had become the primary cause of death in Iraq, 58 times
more likely than in the 15 months before the U.S.-led attack. Of violent
deaths, about 95 percent were attributed to bombing or fire from helicopter
gunships. Most of the victims, according to the study, were women and!
children...

For Shame, America
Mark Gery
...Throughout the nineties, while Iraq's leadership was falsely accused of
concealing weapons, Iraq's people were suffering from one of the most rigid
economic embargoes in history. A ban on chlorine resulted in less than half
the population having access to drinkable water. Agricultural imports such
as seeds and fertilizer were also prohibited, causing steep drops in food
output. Chronic malnutrition occurred in poorer sections of the country
while thousands of nursing mothers struggled to bring forth adequate milk
for their children(...) Only after Hussein's government was illegally
deposed did American officials at the UN finally vote to lift the embargo...
