...But Venebale above says the US military never targeted civilians. That
doesn't quite ring true. They encircled a town of 300,000 and those
civilians who tried to get out during the early stage of the attack on the
town were shot and killed. Those that tried to escape over the river
Euphrates were shot and killed. You can find dozens of accounts from
civilians themselves, but as they are all Iraqis and Sunnis, then they are
all liars, of course. ! Right? Wrong. The liars are the US military. Just
check your archives and see how the US military referred to all of Falluja
with every one inside - a military stronghold. No mention of civilian town.
Military. Stronghold (...) So when the US military says it never targeted
civilians, sure that's true because it considered all of Fallujah a
military stronghold...

Not too long ago there was a report from the Italian media that the US
Armed Forces had used the illegal chemical weapon, White Phosphorus, on the
population of Fallujah. "No, no," our government cried: U.S. forces have
used [White Phosphorus shells] very sparingly in Fallujah, for illumination
purposes. They were fired into the air to illuminate enemy positions at
night, not at enemy fighters. "Wait, um… Can I change my answer?" they
asked. Now, apparently, the milit! ary is admitting that they did use White
Phosphorus as a weapon, but that there’s nothing wrong with that at all...

Amman Bombings: More Suspicious Details

A story appearing on the CBC World News website this afternoon reveals
additional details about the Amman hotel bombings and shoots a big hole in
the official story, as pimped by the corporate media. A security official,
who will likely be demoted if his identity is revealed, told the Associated
Press that "lights in sections of both the Radisson and Hyatt hotels went
out just before the near simultaneous blasts in—apparent—co-ordinated!
fashion…. A DJ at the Radisson, where a Jordanian-Palestinian wedding
reception was bombed, also recalled how the ballroom where the party was
being held mysteriously descended into darkness. 'The lights at the wedding
hall went off seconds, maybe just one second, before the blast, although
there was electricity outside the room in the corridor, the nearby lobby
area and the reception,’ Fadi al-Kessi told The AP. 'For some reason, I
looked to my right in the darkness and saw what looked liked lightening,
then there was a loud boom. It felt like the explosion came from the
ceiling, then people started running out,’" notes the AP...

We can now start to get an idea of the very simple but ingenious way in
which the Jordan bombs were activated. I think we can take as a given that
the target of the bombs was the Palestinians, particularly the chief
Palestinian spy, and the Chinese military officials. Besides killing the
Palestinians, the bomb was intended to send a message to the Chinese that
they shouldn't be dealing with the Palestinians (I'll leave it up to you to
guess the identity of the only country in the world that ! might want to
send that kind of message). Any other story completely ignores the fact
that it is just too much of a coincidence that the Palestinian and Chinese
officials died. The technical problem was how to manage the bombing so that
the right targets ended up dead. The civilian deaths were required to lay
the basis for the suicide bomb fable...

The right-wing government of John Howard proposes to introduce through
Federal Parliament a draconian anti-terror legislation, the Anti-Terrorism
Bill 2005. If passed, the Bill would make it easy for the government and
the police to arrest and detain without charge Australians from Muslim and
Arab backgrounds on suspicion of planning to commit act of terrorism (...)
In addition, anti-war demonstrators and anyone who provide moral support to
the Iraqi! people resisting the violent U.S. Occupation and defending their
country would be unlawful. The Howard Government proposes to make it an
offence, punishable by seven years’ imprisonment, for "any person" who
"urges another person to engage in conduct to assist, by any means
whatever, an organisation or country ... engaged in armed hostilities
against the Australian Defence Force". This is interesting because the war
on Iraq was "an illegal act of aggression" and in violations of UN Charter.
The UN legitimises resistance – by any means – against foreign occupation...

Intl. Probe Into Abuses by Iraqi Govt. Urged

US-backed Iraqi government faced calls Wednesday, November 16, for an
international enquiry into abuse of Sunnis at a secret prison in Baghdad
where inmates were reportedly tortured, beaten and starved. The call by the
Sunni-based Islamic Party follows revelations that more than 170 detainees,
mostly Sunnis, were illegally held at a center run by the Shiite-dominated
interior ministry, in a case likely to embarrass the US military
supervising local secu! rity forces, reported Agence France-Presse (AFP).
"We insist on having an international investigation," Islamic Party
spokesman Alaa Makki told AFP...

In a dispatch posted at 4:50pm Mecca time Tuesday afternoon, Mafkarat
al-Islam reported that a short while before the US military had bombarded
houses in the town of al-`Ubaydi, some 35km northwest of al-Qa'im near the
border with Syria in western Iraq (...) The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent
in al-`Ubaydi reported that ! 24 bodies had been recovered from the rubble.
These were nine children; five women; and 10 men, three of them elderly...

The Al-Zarqawi 11/9 Amman Bombings: More Holes in the Official Story

Roadside Bomb Kills Three U.S. Soldiers Near Baghdad

Three Task Force Baghdad soldiers were killed today when their patrol
struck an improvised explosive device northwest of Baghdad, military
officials in Iraq reported. The soldiers' names are being withheld pending
notification of next of kin. Meanwhile, military commanders report Iraqi
soldiers and U.S. Marines, soldiers and sailors have cleared most of Ubaydi
in Operation Steel Curtain, but pockets of resistance and improvised bom!
bs still pose "a considerable risk to both military personnel and
civilians," according to a Multinational Force Iraq statement...

Suspected torture centre found in Iraq

More than 170 malnourished detainees found at an Interior Ministry
detention centre in Baghdad appear to have been tortured, the Iraqi prime
minister says. The announcement by Prime Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari on
Tuesday came two days after US troops surrounded and took control of an
Interior Ministry building in the Baghdad neighbourhood where the detainees
were found (...) The Interior Ministry is controlled by the majority Shia.
Sunni leaders have accused S! hia-dominated security forces of detaining,
torturing and killing hundreds of Sunnis simply because of their religious

Pentagon used white phosphorous in Iraq

Pentagon officials acknowledged Tuesday that U.S. troops used white
phosphorous as a weapon against insurgent strongholds during the battle of
Fallujah last November. But they denied an Italian television news report
that the spontaneously flammable material was used against civilians (...)

'Peace Mom' Plans to Resume War Protest
