Iraqi Resistance Report for events of Sunday, 17 July 2005
Translated and/or compiled by Muhammad Abu Nasr, member, editorial board,
the Free Arab Voice.
An Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a US military column on the strategic
road near the village of al-Haqlaniyah in the area of al-Hadithah, 250km
west of Baghdad at 5pm local time Sunday afternoon. Residents of
al-Haqlaniyah told the correspondent of Mafkarat al-Islam based in
al-Hadithah that a Resistance bomb that was planted by the side of the
strategic roa! d used by the US forces as their main route between American
bases in western Iraq, blew up as a column of eight American Humvees passed
by...

INSTITUTIONALIZING SEXUAL AGGRESSION IN THE MILITARY
Stan Goff, Feral Scholar
... The initial stage of a campaign targeting the military on the issue of
rape is not to win policy concessions, or even to begin organizing within
the military. It is to raise the visibility of rape in the military to the
point where it can not be ignored. The fact that it has been systematically
covered up in Iraq is a huge issue, and one that merges with the anti-war
effort itself. But simply complaining about it is not raising its !
visibility; to do that, public visibility must become a strategic
organizing goal designed to reach the largest possible audience with the
most sustained intensity possible. As part of that effort, military women
must be made aware of the extra-military resources available to them for
the redress of rape and other forms of sexual aggression...

Who duped the London bombers?
GAVIN GATENBY, Possum News Network
Citing police and MI5 sources, The Mirror.co.uk, a mainstream British
internet publication, has now admitted the probability that the four London
bombers were in some way duped by a master bomber (...) According to this
scenario the bombers were merely expendable low-level operatives whose
death would happily remove the probability that, if caught, they would
reveal, under interrogation, details about their controllers and other
members of the netw! ork. In its way, this admission is a breakthrough that
should allow other more plausible scenarios to emerge for investigation. In
that spirit, let me suggest variants of the “dupes scenario” that I believe
are at least equally plausible, given the information currently available
to the public...

Magdy el-Nashar Frame Up Crumbling
Kurt Nimmo, Another day in the empire
Maybe the Brits can get Magdy Mahmoud Mustafa el-Nashar, the supposed
London bombing chemist, on downloading illegal music files. You’d think an
al-Qaeda bomber would have all kinds of incriminating data on his computer.
But all the Egyptians found was a hard-drive filled with music. No bomb
recipes. No secret al-Qaeda communications or incriminating emails. Maybe
the Brits should turn the case over to the Recording Industry Association
of A! merica or its European equivalent. Since el-Nashar does not seem to
be guilty of anything, maybe he can be nailed on violating the Digital
Millennium Copyright Act...

Rovegate and Downing Street—Inseparable
Rob Kall, www.opednews.com
...Rovegate= Downing Street. These two stories must be linked together. We
can’t expect the failed hacks who pretend to be network journalists to do
the job, but the alternative media will be keeping their eye on both balls,
reminding you and the public that these two events add up to a bigger,
stronger proof that the Bush administration engaged in criminal acts to
bring the country into war and then to hide the facts and punish accusers...

Iraqi Oil Workers Hold 24-hour Strike - Oil Exports Shut Down
Iraq Occupation and Resistance Report
15,000 Southern Oil Company workers from the General Union of Oil Employees
– Iraq’s largest independent union – began a 24-hour strike today, cutting
most oil exports from the south of Iraq. The strike is in support of
demands made by Basra Governor Mohammad al-Waili – reflective of the wishes
of the vast majority of Basra’s residents - for a higher percentage of
Southern oil revenue to be ploughed back into Basra! ’s local economy.
Basra’s sewage system, electricity grid and medical services are still
damaged and running at limited capacity...
