The war has now entered its third year.  More than 100,000 Iraqis and nearly 1,700 U.S. soldiers are dead.  The Bush Administration, in open defiance of international law, has built a system of brutal prison camps where thousands are tortured, held in isolation, and denied basic human rights.

Despite growing evidence that the occupation is failing, the neocons in Washington are determined to crush the Iraqi people and is making threats against new targets, including the people of  Korea, Venezuela, Iran, and Syria.

This lawless regime in Washington demands a unified opposition.  The Troops Out Now coalition has organized this discussion on Saturday, June 11 to bring together activists from a wide variety of antiwar, labor, and community organizations  to  explore and strategize about building a united front to end the war in Iraq.

On May 26, the Troops Out Now Coalition issued a unity call, appealing to all progressive and antiwar organizations to unite around the central demand for the immediate withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq, recognizing that individuals and organizations would of course, raise other issues in their own way--unity does not have to mean uniformity.  This call has drawn more than 800 endorsers from across the U.S. and all over the globe.  The circumstances demand unity, and activists in the U.S. have a particular obligation to do everything within our power to stop the war.  Nothing is more important at this moment than for all to walk together on the high road to unity.  All three national coalitions have an obligation to do everything possible to present a united front against the colonial war and criminal occupation.  We believe that what we all do will be decisive. We must and we can stop the war and get every U.S. soldier out of Iraq.  It is up to all of us to do whatever is necessary for our movement to rise to this challenge.

Please join us for this important meeting on Saturday, June 11 at the Lang Center of the New School University.
