Elezioni sui cadaveri
Augusto Zamora R. - El Nuevo Diario - www.resistenze.org
oppositori e convocano elezioni senza garanzie, nelle quali partecipano

Risposta: Bush, Blair e Berlusconi. Quelli che hanno fatto o appoggiato la
guerra.
all'occupazione straniera...

Come mai siamo caduti così in
basso?
Siamo, senza accorgercene

Giuliana

What the imperialists forgot
Iraqi people expose the myth of U.S. invincibility
Richard Becker, Magazine of the Party for Socialism and Liberation
The ideologues of global re-colonization inside the Bush
administration—Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rice, Wolfowitz and others, as well as the
president himself—have seen their vision of the future go up in flames in
Iraq. The myth of U.S. invincibility has been dispelled. The Iraq war and
occupation has turned into the most serious problem for the U.S. ruling
class in more than a decade and their biggest military crisis since the
Vietnam War...

Vietnam 1967 & Iraq 2005: using elections to justify criminal wars
Bill Van Auken, WSWS
...The elections are no more a signal of US success in Iraq than all the
other "turning points" previously cited by the Bush administration, from
the fall of Baghdad to the end of "major combat operations," the capture of
Saddam Hussein and the installation of the supposedly "sovereign" Iraqi
Interim Government headed by the CIA asset Iyad Allawi. The killing will
continue until US imperialism's colonial venture is defeated by the Iraqi
people's resistance and the independent struggle of American working people
against the war and those who conspired to wage it...

Idealists and Realists: One in the Same
Kurt Nimmo
...It's almost humorous the way the corporate media makes Colin Powell out
to be a peacenik. As we know, Powell played an instrumental role in the
"idealist" invasion of both Afghanistan and Iraq. As the 12th Chairman of
the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the highest military position in the Department
of Defense, Powell oversaw the criminal invasion of Iraq, version I, the
"Gulf War," an illegal invasion that ultimately resulted in the murder of
over a million innocent I raqis. In addition to participating in this
criminal enterprise, Powell, as an Army major during the Vietnam War,
attempted to cover up the My Lai massacre...

Democracy At Gunpoint
DAHR JAMAIL, Outlookindia.com
...Yet what this forced election has done is reverse decades of political
dominance by the Sunni Arabs. Due to their boycotts and the strong Shia and
Kurd turnout, the latter will most likely win the most seats in the
National Assembly, and to that extent have the power to pursue their
separate agendas(...) The election has not provided answers, it has only
raised more questions. And none bigger than this: is this the beginning of
democracy or the beginning of t he end of Iraq as we know it?...

Army probes 160 Iraq abuse cases
Mark Townsend and Jamie Doward, The Observer
More than 160 separate allegations of abuse by British troops in Iraq have
been investigated by army prosecutors, of which nearly a third could lead
to highly damaging public courts martial. Revelations about the volume of
claims under investigation are likely to exacerbate the harm already caused
to the army's reputation over claims of abuse in Iraq and prompt fresh
calls for a full independent inquiry into the scale of soldiers' behavi
our...

U.S. Drops One Charge Against Abu Ghraib Defendant
Debbie Stevenson, Reuters
The U.S. government dropped the main charge on Saturday against a female
soldier who posed in front of a pyramid of naked Iraqis at Abu Ghraib
prison. The charge against Sabrina Harman, over viewing and failing to
prevent other soldiers from forcing detainees to masturbate, was dropped
without discussion (...) In another photo from a separate incident, the
Virginia native flashes a broad smile in front of a dead Iraqi...

Homeland Defense
William Marvel, Intervention Magazine
...The American occupation of Iraq struggles against the moral advantage
enjoyed by those who are defending the land of their birth from alien
invaders. The "insurgents" of that war see themselves as the true patriots
of that conflict. They merely imitate the tactics of the Minutemen who
chased the redcoats back to Boston, and of John Mosby's guerrilla war
against Phil Sheridan's Yankee cavalry. They defend their homeland as
ferociously as the old men and boys of Petersburg did, fighting with a
spirit that we can only hope American citizens would show if a foreign
power landed an army on our shores to deliver us from George W. Bush...

Gonzales confirmed: war criminal to head US Justice Department
Joseph Kay, WSWS
...In his testimony, Gonzales refused to repudiate the conclusions of the
previous memo. When asked whether American soldiers or intelligence
agencies ever had the legal authority to "engage in torture under any
circumstances," Gonzales replied that he "didn't believe so," but had to
give his answer in writing to avoid "providing a misleading answer." In his
written answers to questions, Gonzales indicated that there were situations
wh en torture is legal...

Oklahoma No 1 in War Crime Weapons -- Fallujah Leveled by Uranium Weapons
from Oklahoma
Bob Nichols, Axis of Logic
The US Military's genocidal operation in Iraq is trucking off whole
destroyed cities and acres of dirt to dumps in the desert. This is to
obscure the tell-tale and eternal radiation and the chemical residues from
the use of banned and illegal weapons by our kids and friends in the US
Military. They are the same as they have been for 40 years. Does anybody
remember the "elections" in Saigon, Viet Nam? You are maybe expecting the
Empire to not change or alter it's lethal methods and procedures? In Viet
Nam it was the deadly chemical poison Agent Orange. In Iraq it is plain old
processed uranium. The military must think uranium is better, because it is
permanent. Uranium is radioactive. It kills people and contaminates their
land - forever...

Mental health problems for 700 troops in Iraq
Terri Judd
Almost 700 British servicemen and women have returned from Iraq with mental
health problems including post-traumatic stress disorder. The latest
figures seen by The Independent show that 19 service personnel have had to
be discharged because of psychiatric problems. Between the beginning of the
conflict in March 2003 and September 2004, 687 serving military personnel,
predominantly soldiers, were treated...

Iraqi security troops in roadside bombings (...) A member of the Baghdad
city council, Abbas Hasan Waheed, was killed Saturday in a drive-by
shooting, police said. The four Americans were killed in two separate
bombings Friday night near Beiji, 155 miles north of Baghdad, the U.S.
military said Saturday. Four Iraqi National Guardsmen died in a roadside

Rebel cleric Sadr belittles Iraq vote, demands date for US pullout
AFP
Iraqi Shiite rebel cleric Moqtada Sadr called on his community's senior
religious leaders to insist on a timeline for a US troop withdrawal and
belittled last week's historic vote. "This is a message from Sayed Moqtada.
I call on all religious and political powers that pushed towards the
elections and took part in them to issue an official statement calling for
a timetable for the withdrawal of the occupation forces from Iraq," Sayed
Hashim Abu Ragheef told faithful gathered for Friday prayers in the Shiite
city of Kufa...
