VOLUNTEERS TRAINING

Un Ponte Per Chatila (UPP-Chatila) will organize a the formation of the
volunteers
on the basis of a preliminary meeting to be held by the end of April in
Rome
on the general aspects of the camp, the Palestinian History and volunteers
selection and others to organize the activities. Upon arrival in Beirut
there
will be two-day training by Assumoud main center about the local
organization,
and one-day upon arrival in Beddawi about the aspects of the activities.

>Good attitude to work with children and youngsters

>ACTIVITIES
>The volunteers will work with boys and girls aged 7-14, already involved
>in the activities of the Assumoud centers during the school year. All the
>activities will be carried on inside the refugee camp. The volunteers will
>be splinted in few groups based on the age of children.
>Each group will be encouraged to develop topics linked to the Palestinian
>history and Palestinian traditions by means of written and oral methods
such
>as tales, dance, music, drawings, testimony, interviews etc. and stimulate
>the creativity of children. The volunteers also will be invited to bring
>their own experience and to speak about their local traditions and costumes
>by bringing photographs, music, dance, poems, articles, small toys, games
>and so on.
>The activities will include also the possibility of interviewing the
>parents
>and grandparents of children about their and the Palestinian history, the
>living conditions inside the camps and their hopes.
>The activity with the children is finalized to realize a small performance
>to be shown to the parents and to the people of the camp by the end of
the
>camp.
>The volunteers are hence very welcome to make proposal for activities based
>on their personal experience and attitudes.
>Study part
>During the camp, the volunteers will meet the main local organizations
in
>Beddawi camp and in the other refugee camps in Lebanon to study the
>situation
>of the refugees and the main issues linked to their status.

>CULTURAL EVENTS
>There will be some days off to give the volunteers the opportunity to visit
>the main historic, cultural and environmental sites in Lebanon.

>PARTICIPATION FEE
>At the training meeting in Italy: 80 Euro. 20 Euro insurance approx. At
the
>arrival in Lebanon: 150 Euro for accommodation and food and the material
>to be utilized for the activities.
>Internal transportation: 50 Euro approx.
