Real Iraqui Communists supports Iraqui Resistance, not the electoral farse.
ICP-Cadre, Iraqwar
...Every goal that lies outside of the framework of the resistance must be
postponed until after liberation. We stand with the sons and daughters of
our people against the occupation and are committed to the armed patriotic
resistance. We support it whatever its religious or political currents. For
the first and basic aim now is to expel the occupiers from Iraq. Any
Communist who cooperates with the occupation under what ever circumstances
is charged with the greatest act of national treason! The behavior and
actions of the current leadership of the Iraqi Communist Party do not
represent the Iraqi Communist Party or Iraqi Patriots...

Exclusive: Conscientious Objector Witnessed Abuse, Killing of Iraqi
Detainees at Abu Ghraib
Democracy Now!
In a Democracy Now! national broadcast exclusive, we speak with former Army
Reserve Specialist Aidan Delgado. He served in Iraq from April 2003 to
April 2004 where he was deployed in Nasiriyah and Abu Ghraib. Soon after
his arrival in Iraq, he sought conscientious objector status and turned in
his weapon. At Abu Ghraib, he witnessed U.S. soldiers abuse and kill Iraqi
detainees (...) AMY GOODMAN: Some o f the pictures that you sent, extremely
bloody. People in their own blood, people shot up. Where are they from?
AIDAN DELGADO: The ones from the initial assault come from the Third
Infantry division. They had gone ahead of us, and we were attached to them,
served as their support. Any of the photos taken that are extremely sharp,
with a telephoto lens--those come from the Third Infantry division; I was
not the photographer. The grainy photos are, are myself. The prisoners who
were killed, those photographs come from the people who were there. I
received them from a friend of mine who-- from one of the participants...

2001 Memo Reveals Push for Broader Presidential Powers
Michael Isikoff, Newsweek
Just two weeks after the September 11 attacks, a secret memo to White House
counsel Alberto Gonzales' office concluded that President Bush had the
power to deploy military force "preemptively" against any terrorist groups
or countries that supported them—regardless of whether they had any
connection to the attacks on the World Trade Towers or the Pentagon. The
memo, written by Justice Department lawyer John Yoo, argues that there are
effectively "no limits" on the president's authority to wage war—a sweeping
assertion of executive power that some constitutional scholars say goes
considerably beyond any that had previously been articulated by the
department...

Nearly 3,000 troops are flown back to the UK for treatment
Severin Carrell
Nearly 3,000 British troops have been flown back to the UK for hospital
treatment after being wounded, injured or falling sick in Iraq, the
Ministry of Defence has disclosed. The figure - which dwarfs the death toll
of 74 troops and aircrew who have died since the invasion in March 2003 -
includes hundreds of soldiers evacuated from Iraq with serious injuries or
illnesses, some critical...

Christmas Wishlist...
Baghdad Burning. Girl Blog from Iraq...
I have to make this fast. No electricity for three days in a row (well,
unless you count that glorious hour we got 3 days ago...). Generators on
gasoline are hardly working at all. Generators on diesel fuel aren't faring
much better- most will only work for 3 or 4 straight hours then they have
to be turned off to rest. Ok- what is the typical Iraqi Christmas wishlist
(I won't list 'peace', 'security' and 'freedom' - Christmas miracles are
exclusive to C harles Dickens), let's see: 1. 20 liters of gasoline...

We are losing the Iraq War militarily: Part Two
Kevin Thomson, The Truth Seeker
...Everyday the resistance picks off a dozen American solders (yes, a
couple dozen - if wounded are included). America responds with terror
bombings on civilians, because we don't know where these resistance
fighters are and we just bomb some homes, claiming they are terrorist safe
houses. This is not unlike the NAZI occupation in WW2: the Nazi's didn't
know where the resistance fighters were, either; so, they just rounded up
some youn g men near the spot of attack on the German army and summarily
executed them...

US warplanes strike Falluja
Aljazeera.net
The US military has renewed its aerial assault of Falluja amid reports of
fierce clashes with the city's resistance, an Iraqi journalist said.
According to independent Iraqi journalist Fadhil al-Badrani, US warplanes

Saddam bids to challenge case in US
Robert Winnett
SADDAM HUSSEIN is preparing a legal challenge in America to his trial for
war crimes, according to leaked papers prepared by his defence team. Advice
to take the case to the US courts is contained in a 50-page brief prepared
by Clive Stafford Smith, the leading British human rights lawyer, which has
been seen by The Sunday Times. The action is to ensure that Saddam receives
the basic legal rights given to those tried in America, such as full access
to his defence team and an independent judge and jury...

A North Carolina National Guard member thought to be the first U.S. soldier
convicted of murdering an Iraqi said he "snapped" and shot the 17-year-old
boy after they had consensual sex, according to court-martial records

south of Asheboro, pleaded guilty during a court-martial in Iraq to

Revealed: the handwritten notes made by soldiers after Mousa died
Severin Carrell, The Independent
The death of Baha Mousa is recorded in a terse and simple entry in the
British Army logbook, and written in slightly shaky handwriting. Timed at
22.42 on 15 September 2003, the three-line note reads: "Prisoner died in
custody deceased at 2205 after CPR [resuscitation] from 2150 - Baha Nashen
Mohamed - one of suspects from hotel raid yesterday." And someone had
scratched a line through the word "after" - perhaps in an attempt to
distance the soldiers who tried to bring Baha Mousa back to life after the
abuse and torture that allegedly caused his death...

U.S. Forgives Iraq Debt To Clear Way for IMF Reforms
Brian Dominick, The NewStandard
...Consistent with a plan arranged last month at a meeting of top
industrialized nations, whereby the countries would eventually relieve
approximately 80 percent of the debt Iraq is said to owe them collectively,
Friday's move was the first among many planned to eventually forgive the
bulk of Iraq's crippling debt burden. In exchange, Iraq will surrender its
economic sovereignty to global financial institutions, provide foreign in
vestors greater access to Iraqi natural resources, and increase investment
opportunities for multinational corporations...

Iraqi Resistance Report for events of Saturday, 18 December 2004
Translated and/or compiled by Muhammad Abu Nasr, member editorial board The
Free Arab Voice.
...Reportedly the Resistance offensive was sparked by a letter from a
female prisoner named Fatimah that brought the fighters to tears of rage.
Fatima's letter, a hand written document, was recently smuggled out of Abu
Ghurayb. Fatimah is the sister of one of the famous Iraqi Resistance
fighters in the Abu Ghurayb area. US aggressor troops raided his house s
ome time back but failed to find him, so they took his sister prisoner in
an attempt to force him to give himself up. Their family is known for its
piety and uprightness. Mafkarat al-Islam obtained a copy of the letter...

US marines do not recommend return of residents to Fallujah
AFP
The US military cannot recommend to the Iraqi interim government the return
of residents to Fallujah, where insurgents are still holed out in the
battle-scarred city. "At some point we'll make a recommendation, we haven't
reached that point," Lieutenant Colonel Dan Wilson, a deputy commander of
the First Marine Expeditionary Force, told reporters in a military base
near Fallujah late on Friday (...) West and Wilson insisted however that
fighting that broke out Friday in Fallujah, which left six marines dead,
was not an example failure...

Indiana Jones, War Criminal
Kurt Nimmo
Rush Limbaugh is full of it. Hollywood is not a nest of hate-America
liberals. In fact, so-called Hollywood liberals are as rah-rah for Bush and
the Strausscon war against Islam as any number of yahoos from the
Deliverance states. Case in point: Universal Pictures has announced it
plans to make a film entitled "The Battle for Falluja," starring none other
than Indiana Jones himself, Harrison Ford...

Sabotage Stops Iraq's North Oil Exports
Reuters
Saboteurs blew up Iraq's northern export pipeline for the second week in a
row on Saturday, halting oil flows to Turkey's Ceyhan port, oil officials
said. A bomb that exploded overnight blew off a section of the twin
pipeline near the oil center of Baiji, they said. The pipeline runs from
the Kirkuk oil fields to the IT-1A storage tanks near Baiji, where oil
accumulates before it is pumped further north to Ceyhan...

Questions for John Pilger
The Sun-Herald
...What has been done to that country, on top of a dozen years of economic
sanctions driven by the United States and Britain and supported by
Australia, is an epic crime. I interviewed Professor Richard Overy, one of
the world's leading authorities on Nuremburg and international law, last
year and he said that under international law, what had happened in Iraq
was a major crime against humanity, and Bush and Blair could be in the
dock. Imagine that perspective, that truth, in our media...
