Premeditated Death and Destruction unleashed against a Sovereign Nation and
People
Opening statement before the Iraq tribunal hearings at Tokyo, 11 Dec 2004
Niloufer Bhagwat, www.globalresearch.ca
...We live in strange times. For even as a war rages fiercely in Iraq which
in epic terms can be compared to a "Mahabharat" , a fierce war between the
forces of right and wrong , justice and injustice , occupation and national
liberation ; we resume this trial in the dark shadows of an "Apocalypse"
wh! ich is the continuing military occupation and the reduction of the
entire population of Iraq into the inmates of a vast concentration camp
unmonitored even by the Red Cross and other UN and other International
humanitarian organizations...

presidi sanitari all'interno della città? (...)E' talmente sconvolgente
quel che è avvenuto in questa cittadina sunnita ! di 300.000 abitanti, a
ovest di Baghdad, da dover essere nascosto agli occhi degli iracheni e del
mondo? Cosa nascondono i comandi Usa?...

Rumseld to Troops in Iraq: "Fight Naked...Life's a Bitch and Then YOU Die"
Paul Street, www.dissidentvoice.org
..."Why," one soldier asked "Rummy," "do we soldiers have to dig through
local landfills for pieces of scrap metal and compromised ballistic glass
to uparmour our vehicles." As the flustered Pentagon chief stumbled for an
answer, the solider elaborated: "we do not have proper armored vehicles to
carry us north." I oppose the entire operation of course, but that strikes
me as a decent question, one that ! I'd be glad to see posed if I were
stuck over there in Bush's Godforsaken crusade...

Controlled Press Ignores Criminal Obliteration of Fallujah
Christopher Bollyn, LAI
The controlled press has scrupulously avoided discussing the devastation
and prima facie evidence of war crimes committed during the U.S. siege and
assault of Fallujah. As Americans prepared for Thanksgiving, an estimated
100,000 residents of the besieged Iraqi city of Fallujah, trapped in their
homes, struggled to survive without fresh food, water or electricity,
reportedly cut off by U.S. forces on November 8. Meanwhile, on the! streets
of Fallujah, a city of more than 350,000, dogs gnawed on bloated and
rotting corpses that remained unburied for weeks...

US warplanes pounded in the small hours of Sunday, December 12, several

between the occupation forces and fighters in the battered city, reported
Aljazeera news channel quoting an Iraqi reporter inside the city (...) The
Iraqi Red Crescent has been unable to enter the neighborhoods to distribute
medical and food supplies...

2 U.S. Soldiers Killed in Iraq Fighting
SAMEER N. YACOUB, NYTimes - Iraqwar
A U.S. Marine was killed in Iraq's volatile Anbar province Sunday and
another soldier died in a roadside bombing, while suicide car bombers hit
American military vehicles west and north of the capital, killing three
attackers but causing no coalition casualties. Also Sunday, insurgents
fired mortars and rocket-propelled grenades at Iraqi National Guardsmen in
downtown Baghdad as part of a campaign to derail next month's nationwide
electi! ons and target Iraqi forces who collaborate with U.S.-led troops...

AFP
Ousted Iraqi president Saddam Hussein and 11 top leaders of his regime

The Splendid Failure of Occupation. Part 23: Dick Cheney, reshaping history
with an ax
B. J. Sabri. Online Journal Contributing Writer
...After the U.S. dismantled Iraq's economic and social structures, and as
master terrorist John Negroponte is ruling Iraq by cluster and Napalm bombs
and destroying Iraq's historical cities one by one, did Cheney build a
secure Iraq for the Iraqis? After the U.S. effectively deprived the Iraqis
of all elementary forms of security, including personal safety, health,
psychological! , future, financial, and societal development, is Iraq
really a secure country? The answer to all these questions is no. With a
cannibalistic economy, with oil revenue financing the occupation, with over
100,000 Iraqis killed, with 70 percent of the population unemployed, with
the U.S. fomenting a civil war, and with hospital and university systems
laying in ruin, Iraq, decidedly, is not a secure, but a catastrophically
failed nation...

Fighting rages in Falluja
Aljazeera.net
US bombing of the Iraqi city of Falluja is continuing while an aircraft has
dropped a quarter-tonne bomb on Mosul, leaving an unknown number of
casualties in a battle that has also injured eight US soldiers. The bombing
came after clashes erupted between US forces and fighters in the eastern
parts of Falluja. An Iraqi journalist, Fadil al-Badrani, described the
fighting as the fiercest in two weeks...

Do Not Die For Corporate America
Ibrahim Ebeid, Al-Moharer
...With no respect for human dignity the poor nations became a target for
recruitment of mercenaries and Salvador was no exception. Private
contractors have tapped other Latin American nations, including Colombia
and Chile. But Salvador is the favorite for Triple Canopy in looking for
recruits with military Special Forces experience, something relatively easy
to find in a country that suffered 12 years of civil war, which ended in
1992...

ASSUMPTIONS, ELECTIONS and PROPAGANDA
The Iconoclast, Dissociated Press
...American military power, rather than elections, are forcing this
privatization in Iraq, but the US government obviously hopes that these
so-called free elections will influence world opinion, stabilize Iraq so
the plunder of resources like oil can proceed more efficiently and give
legitimacy to a war that is an illegal aggression against a sovereign
country and a violation of international law and the Geneva Conventions,
not to even mentio! n the torture at Abu Ghraib, the use of depleted
uranium and the killing of an estimated 100,000 Iraqi civilians. It is
similar to spraying perfume on a skunk...

Americans Create a Gulag in Fallujah and Are Criminals in the Eyes of the World
Dr. Sam Hamod, Ph.D., editor, www.todaysalternativenews.com
The American crimes in Fallujah are something the American media has taken
great pains to cover up. None of our "embedded reporters" has told us the
truth of the brutality and the refugees who have been created by this
horrible, brutal destruction of Fallujah. Fallujah was not about Zarqawi as
we all know--it was to set up a Gulag, an example to other Iraqis of what
America ! would do if the people of Iraq resisted our brutal and criminal
occupation...

Bush and Rumsfeld Caught In Lies About Arming Humvees: News Summaries from Iraq
Edited by Liz Burbank
...The manufacturer of Humvees for the U.S. military and the company that
adds armor to the utility vehicles are not running near production capacity
and are making all that the Pentagon has requested, spokesmen for both
companies said (...) Blaming the shortage on a lack of production capacity,
as Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld did Wednesday, is "just not true,"
said Bayh. He said he had told the Pentagon a! s early as April that more
armored Humvees could be built (...) Bayh, in a telephone conference call
with reporters, said the problem was another indication of the
administration's underestimation of the risks and demands in Iraq...

Iraqi Fighters Keep Up Attacks
Sunni Cleric Says Fallujah Attracted Hundreds of Recruits
Anthony Shadid, Washington Post Foreign Service
...An insurgent leader said a day earlier that fighting in the western
Iraqi city of Fallujah had drawn hundreds of fighters to rebel ranks. The
leader, Abdullah Janabi, 53, a Sunni Muslim cleric from Fallujah who has
eluded a dragnet by the U.S. military, vowed Friday in an interview that
the fighting in the devastated city on the Euphrates River would continu! e

Sistani, il grande elettore
Pepe Escobar. Asia Times Online - Osservatorio Iraq

Nearly Visiting Iraq
By Felicity Arbuthnot, IslamOnline
A London-based Iraqi businessman who visited Iraq bi-yearly throughout the
thirteen grinding years of UN sanctions, undertaking the 1,200-kilometer
road journey to and from Baghdad, nearly visited Iraq again last month—but
not quite. The road has become so dangerous and the threats from the
US-backed interim "democratic" government so great to those who opposed war
and sanctions, that he had to meet friends in Amman, in neighboring
Jordan...

Déja Vu All Over Again
DAVE LINDORFF, CounterPunch
...When soldiers believe in what they are doing-when what they're actually
doing jibes more or less with the propaganda they were fed in training-they
can endure incredible risks and hardship. Remember, a lot of U.S. troops
believed they were avenging the 9/11 attacks and protecting America from a
madman with The Bomb. Now many are realizing they are fighting a
nationalist resistance in a country that was never a threat to! the U.S.,
and that had nothing to do with 9/11...

Home Cooking
Chris Floyd
...But outsourcing is only one aspect of Bush's Torture, Incorporated; he
has plenty of domestic production as well. Last week, the Pentagon released
a report -- completed long before the election -- confessing that the
"aberrations" of Abu Ghraib were in fact part of a broad system of state
terror spread throughout Iraq, the Washington Post reports. Elite squads of
"Special Operations" officers and CIA agents beat and abused prisoners
across the country, the Pentagon said, while regular ! troops committed
"technically illegal acts" by rounding up thousands of innocent people at
random and holding them for months in crowded prisons, where they were
often turned over to those same "elite" squads for "special handling" ...

Fighting erupts in Fallujah. US soldier killed, eight wounded
AFP
A US soldier was killed on Saturday during an operation in Iraq's western
Al Anbar province, which hosts the rebel hot spots of Fallujah and Ramadi.
Fighting erupted in Fallujah earlier on Saturday after days of relative
calm following last month's blistering assault on the former rebel
stronghold. US Marines clashed with insurgents in both the north and south
of the city, which was largely emptied of people before the November 8
offensive.
