Palestino-Israeliano. Ha incontrato molti membri del Parlamento di Israele
"Knesset", alcuni dei quali sono attualmente ministri nel governo di Ariel
Sharon.
* Arrestato il 15 Aprile 2002 durante l'incursione israeliana nella città
di Ramallah.
* Attualmente detenuto dalle forze di occupazione israeliane nella prigione
Maskoubieh; un centro israeliano di investigazione a Gerusalemme Ovest
* Le autorità di occupazione israeliane hanno proibito all'avvocato di
Barghouthi di visitarlo. Questo contraddice la decisione della Suprema
Corte di Giustizia di Israele, di acconsentire la visita.
* Marwan Barghouthi è stato torturato dagli investigatori israeliani. Dal
suo arresto, egli ha subito estesi e continui interrogatori, che in più
casi hannop ecceduto le 18 ore al giorno.
Inoltre, quattro diverse squadre investigative si danno il cambio durante
gli interrogatori, durante i quali è costretto a stare seduto su una sedia
scomoda, con le mani legate dietro la schiena. Questo gli ha provocato una
intensa sofferenza alla schiena, anche perchè proprio prima di essere
arrestato aveva subito un intervento chirurgico.
* Fino ad ora, le Autorità d'Occupazione Israeliane hanno proibito sia al
suo avvocato che ai rappresentanti della Mezza Luna di incontrarlo.

* Elected member of the Revolutionary Council of Fateh Movement during the
conference held in 1989
* Secretary General of Fateh Movement in the West Bank
* Bir Zeit University Graduate
Master of Arts (M.A) in International Relations ; thesis :
Palestinian - French relations
* Believes in a political settlement of the Palestinian Israeli conflict,
based on ending the Israeli occupation, and establishment of an Independent
Palestinian state, side by side with the Israel.
* Was one of the most active people who initiated and led the Palestinian
Israeli Dialogue. He met with many Members of of the Israeli Parliament
"Knesset", of which some currently serve as Ministers in the government of
Ariel Sharon.
* Arrested on April 15th 2002 during the Israeli incursion of Ramallah city.
Currently detained by the Israeli occupation forces in the Maskoubieh
prison; an Israeli investigation center in West Jerusalem
Israeli Occupation Authorities prohibited Barghouthi's lawyer from visiting
him. This contradicts the decision of the Israeli Supreme Court of Justice,
to allow for the visit.
* Marwan Barghouthi is being tortured by Israeli Investigators. Since his
arrest, he has been subject to extensive and continuous investigation,
which exceeds in most cases 18 hours a day. Accordingly, Four investigation
teams take shifts in investigating him, during whihch he is forced to sit
on an uncomfortable chair, with hands tied up behind his back. This caused
severe pain in his back, as well as bleeding from a prior surgery he went
through just before his arrest.
* Until now, Israeli Occupation Authorities prohibit both his lawyer and
the Red Crescent's reoresentatives from meeting him.
