Dear friends,

Many thanks to all of you who wrote letters of support and protest at the
case of Dmitri Neverovsky.

Neverovsky is the courageous Russian conscientious objector, and opponent  of
the war in Chechnya, who was sentenced to two years in prison - for
attempting to realize his right to perform alternative civilian service as
guaranteed by the Russian Constitution.

After spending several months in prison, including unwarranted periods in a
punishment cell, Neverovsky has now been released, pending a retrial. We
will send another report when that trial takes place.
