[News] Un eroe scrive da Gaza

Carissimi amici,

La notte scorsa è stata estrema. L'"invasione di terra" di Gaza ha
provocato decine e vagoni di mutilati, lacerati, insanguinati, tremanti,
moribondi - tutti i tipi di palestinesi feriti, di tutte le età, tutti
civili, tutti innocenti.

Gli eroi nelle ambulanze e in tutti gli ospedali di Gaza stanno lavorando
in turni di 12-24 ore, grigi dalla fatica e dai disumani carichi di lavoro
(senza paga tutti quelli dell’ospedale Shifa da 4 mesi), si prendono cura,
fanno il triage delle emergenze, cercano di capire qualcosa
nell’incomprensibile caos di corpi, organi , taglie, arti, esseri umani
che camminano, che non camminano, che respirano, che non respirano, che
sanguinano, che non sanguinano. Esseri umani!

Ora, ancora una volta trattati come animali dall’"esercito più morale del
mondo" (sic!).
Il mio rispetto per i feriti è infinita, nella loro contenuta
determinazione in preda a dolore, agonia e shock; la mia ammirazione per
il personale e i volontari è infinita, la mia vicinanza al "sumud"
[resilienza] palestinese mi dà forza, anche se a occhiate voglio solo
urlare, tenere qualcuno stretto, piangere, sentire l'odore della pelle e
dei capelli del bambino caldo, coperto di sangue, proteggerci in un
abbraccio senza fine - ma non possiamo permettercelo, né possono loro.

Volti grigio cenere - Oh NO! non un altro carico ancora di decine di
mutilati e insanguinati, abbiamo ancora laghi di sangue sul pavimento
nell’Emergency Room, mucchi di bende insanguinate gocciolanti da spazzare
via - oh - addetti alle pulizie, ovunque, in fretta spalano sangue e
tessuti di scarto , capelli, vestiti, cannule - gli avanzi della morte -
tutto portato via ... per essere pronti ancora una volta, per ripetere
tutto da capo. Più di 100 casi arrivati allo Shifa Hospital nelle ultime
24 ore, gia’ tanto  per un grande ospedale ben attrezzato con tutto, ma
qui - quasi nulla: elettricità, acqua, materiale monouso, medicine o
tavoli, strumenti, monitor - tutto arrugginito e come se preso da musei di
vecchi ospedali. Ma non si lamentano questi eroi. Vanno avanti cosi’ come
guerrieri, a testa bassa, immensamente resoluti.

E mentre vi scrivo queste parole, da solo, su un letto, le mie lacrime
scorrono, lacrime calde ma inutili, di dolore e di pena, di rabbia e di
paura. Questo non sta accadendo!

Ed ecco, proprio ora, l'orchestra della macchina da guerra israeliana
inizia la sua macabra sinfonia di nuovo, proprio ora: salve di artiglieria
dalle navi della marina appena giù sulla spiaggia, gli F16 che ruggiscono,
i droni nauseanti  (in arabo 'Zennanis', che mugolano), e gli Apache che
creano scompiglio. Tutto fatto e pagato dagli Stati Uniti.

Obama - ce l'hai un cuore?

Ti invito - passa una notte - solo una notte - con noi nello Shifa
Hospital. Travestito da addetto alle pulizie, magari. Sono convinto al
100% che cambierebbe la storia.  Nessuno con un cuore E potere potrebbe
mai allontanarsi da una notte nello Shifa senza essere determinato a porre
fine al massacro del popolo palestinese.

Ma i senza cuore e i senza pietà hanno fatto i loro calcoli e pianificato
un altro assalto "dahyia" [la dottrina elaborata dal generale israeliano
Gadi Eizenkot dell’infliggere la massima sofferenza alla popolazione
civile come metodo di deterrenza] a Gaza.
I fiumi di sangue potranno continuare a scorrere la notte a venire. Posso
sentire che hanno sintonizzato i loro strumenti di morte.

Per favore. Fate quello che potete. Questo, questo non può continuare.

Dearest friends -
The last night was extreme. The "ground invasion" of Gaza resulted in
scores and carloads with maimed, torn apart, bleeding, shivering, dying -
all sorts of injured Palestinians, all ages, all civilians, all innocent.
The heroes in the ambulances and in all of Gaza's hospitals are working
12-24hrs shifts, grey from fatigue and inhuman workloads (without payment
all in Shifa for the last 4 months), they care, triage, try to understand
the incomprehensible chaos of bodies, sizes, limbs, walking, not walking,
breathing, not breathing, bleeding, not bleeding humans. HUMANS!
Now, once more treated like animals by "the most moral army in the world"
(sic!).
My respect for the wounded is endless, in their contained determination in
the midst of pain, agony and shock; my admiration for the staff and
volunteers is endless, my closeness to the Palestinian "sumud" gives me
strength, although in glimpses I just want to scream, hold someone tight,
cry, smell the skin and hair of the warm child, covered in blood, protect
ourselves in an endless embrace - but we cannot afford that, nor can they.
Ashy grey faces - Oh NO! not one more load of tens of maimed and bleeding,
we still have lakes of blood on the floor in the ER, piles of dripping,
blood-soaked bandages to clear out - oh - the cleaners, everywhere,
swiftly shovelling the blood and discarded tissues, hair, clothes,cannulas
- the leftovers from death - all taken away...to be prepared again, to be
repeated all over. More then 100 cases came to Shifa last 24 hrs. enough
for a large well trained hospital with everything, but here - almost
nothing: electricity, water, disposables, drugs, OR-tables, instruments,
monitors - all rusted and  as if taken from museums of yesterdays
hospitals.But they do not complain, these heroes. They get on with it,
like warriors, head on, enormous resolute.t

And as I write these words to you, alone, on a bed, my tears flows, the
warm but useless tears of pain and grief, of anger and fear. This is not
happening!
An then, just now, the orchestra of the Israeli war-machine starts its
gruesome symphony again, just now: salvos of artillery from the navy boats
just down on the shores, the roaring F16, the sickening drones (Arabic
'Zennanis', the hummers), and the cluttering Apaches. So much made and
paid in and by US.
Mr. Obama - do you have a heart?
I invite you - spend one night - just one night - with us in Shifa.
Disguised as a cleaner, maybe.
I am convinced, 100%, it would change history.
Nobody with a heart AND power could ever walk away from a night in Shifa
without being determined to end the slaughter of the Palestinian people.
But the heartless and merciless have done their calculations and planned
another "dahyia" onslaught on Gaza.
The rivers of blood will keep running the coming night. I can hear they
have tuned their instruments of death.
Please. Do what you can. This, THIS cannot continue.
