Fuciliere USA muore dormendo con sparo della sua stessa arma

CAMPO AS SAYLIYA, Qatar (Reuters) ­ Un fuciliere nordamericano e' morto 
dormendo a causa dello sparo accidentale della sua propria arma, hanno 
informato le Forze Armate degli USA questo giovedi'.

Secondo un comunicato emesso dal Quartier Generale in Qatar, il rifle 
automatico M-249 gli ha sparato un tiro in petto. L'incidente e' successo 
nella notte di mercoledi' vicino alla citta' di Kut. Il nome del soldato 
non e' stato divulgato, ma il Comando Centrale ha informato che egli 
apparteneva alla prima Divisione della prima Forza di Spedizione dei 
Fucilieri Navali.

"Il fuciliere e' morto in maniera onorabile servendo il suo paese", ha 
aggiunto il comunicato.

AS SAYLIYA, Qatar (Reuters) - A sleeping U.S. Marine was killed by his gun 
in central Iraq when the weapon accidentally discharged, the U.S. military 
said on Thursday.
The Marine's M-249 Squad Automatic Weapon fired one round into his chest, 
U.S. Central Command said in a statement from its war headquarters in Qatar.

The accident took place on Wednesday night near the city of Kut, the 
statement said.

The soldier's name was not disclosed, but Central Command said he was with 
the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force's 1st Marine Division.

"The Marine died honorably in the service of his country," the statement said.
