Intrecci: sguardi sul mondo n. 10 - Italia e America - Italy and America


L'America latina: un continente che ha forti legami culturali ed economici
con l'Italia: "scoperto" più di 500 anni fa dal genovese Colombo, deve il
suo nome al fiorentino Amerigo Vespucci; è stato esplorato e descritto da
tanti Italiani, prima di diventare negli ultimi due secoli la meta sognata
per milioni di nostri emigranti: si calcola che oggi gli Italo-americani
siano più di 50 milioni.
Se ne è parlato a Trieste, nell'ultima edizione del Festival del Cinema
Latino Americano, soprattutto per studiare l'influenza del neorealismo
italiano.
In due successivi servizi viene ricostruita la storia di due personaggi che
hanno contribuito alla formazione dei paesi in cui hanno operato:
l'architetto bolognese Giuseppe Landi  nell'Amazzonia brasiliana; e
Agostino Codazzi geografo ecartografo nel  Venezuela, appena liberato dal
dominio spagnolo.
Due dei tanti esempi di "intrecci" che legano realtà geograficamente
lontane ma culturalmente e storicamente vicine.

La prossima puntata di "Intrecci" sarà dedicata al Forum Sociale Europeo di
Firenze.

Intrecci    
è il magazine televisivo mensile sui problemi dello sviluppo, distribuito a
partire dal gennaio 2000 dalla ADN Kronos ad un circuito di 100 televisioni
locali.

Nelle undici puntate del 2000, disponibili tutte in videocassetta, abbiamo
affrontato temi quali: rifugiati, globalizzazione, debito, diritti umani,
flussi migratori, bambini, emergenze umanitarie, ambiente e sviluppo, donne
rurali, l'altra Africa, Pechino +5.

Nel 2001 i temi sono stati: "in cammino", "solidarietà a distanza",
"acqua", "un altro mondo è possibile?", "cioccolato e caffé", "popoli
indigeni", "donne e azioni positive", "A Genova!", "contro il razzismo",
"tra pace e guerra", "schiavitù vecchie e nuove".
Nel 2002 nelle prime nove puntate: "Informazione e sviluppo", "Lontano da
casa", "Voci da Porto Alegre", "AIDS in Africa", "Dalla strada alla
scuola", "Amazzonia!", "Donne e ambiente", "Sovranità alimentare" e
"Contadini senza terra".

Intrecci

è il primo tentativo organico in Italia di dare voce e volti alla
quotidianità del sud del mondo, cercando punti di contatto con la nostra
realtà; per allargare i nostri "sguardi" su un mondo sempre più
interdipendente, e offrire temi di discussione sui grandi problemi, ancora
irrisolti alle soglie del nuovo millennio.

Presentato in studio da Hermana Mandelli, è realizzato dalla Associazione
URIHI è curato da Giovanna Cossia e Marco De Poli.

E' promosso da un consorzio di 15 organizzazioni di solidarietà
internazionale senza fini di lucro, che per questa iniziativa fa capo al
GRT; e si avvale del sostegno della Direzione Generale per la Cooperazione
allo Sviluppo del Ministero degli Esteri.

Intrecci: sguardi sul mondo (Knots: glimpes on the world) no. 10 - Italy
and America


Latin America: a continent which has strong cultural and economic bonds
with Italy. "Discovered" more than 500 years ago by Colombo, from Genova,
it is named after the Florentine Amerigo Vespucci. It has been explored and
described by many Italians, before becoming during the last centuries the
dreamt of destination of millions of our emigrants: today in fact the
Italo-Americans are more than 50 million.
The matter has been largely discussed during the most recent edition of the
Latin-American Cinema Festival in Trieste, where the influence of the
Italian neo-realism has been particularly emphasized.
In the next two reportages we illustrate the story of two Italians who gave
an important contribution to the development of the countries in which they
operated: the architect Giuseppe Landi, from Bologna, in the Brazilian
Amazon, and Agostino Codazzi, geographer and cartographer, in Venezuela,
just set free from Spanish dominion.
These are two of the many examples, shown by Intrecci, that link together
realities which are distant from a geographical viewpoint  but very alike
from a cultural and historical one.
Intrecci (Knots: glimpses on the world)
is the title of a monthly TV magazine on development issues, distributed by
ADN Kronos to some 100 local TV networks.
In 2000 cycle we have faced themes such as refugees, globalization, debt,
human rights, migration flows, children, humanitarian emergencies,
environment and development, rural women, "a different side" of Africa,
Pekin+5 (women's condition 5 years after U.N. World Conference), all
available in videocassettes.
In 2001 themes such as "Migrants", "Distance solidarity", "Water", "Is
another world possible?", "Chocolate and coffee", "Indigenous people",
"Women and positive actions", "In Genoa!", "Against racism", "Between peace
and war", "Old and new slavery".
In 2002 "Information and development", "Far from home", "Voices from Porto
Alegre", "AIDS in Africa", "From the street to school", "Amazon!, "Women
and environment", "Food sovereignty" and "Landless peasants".

Intrecci

is the first attempt in Italy to show the everyday life of the South of the
world and to find points of contact with our reality, also through the work
of the volunteers and the international solidarity.
The spectators have the possibility to make suggestions and proposals and
this will help to broaden our glances out onto a world which is more and
more interdependent. They will also be offered the opportunity to discuss
problems still unsolved.
