Russia Describes Inclusion in U.S. List as Outrageous

Moscow, Jun 20 (Prensa Latina) Russian Foreign Ministry''s Commissioner
for Human Rights, Konstantin Dolgov, assured today that Russia will
provide an adequate response to the annual report of the U.S. Department
of State on human trafficking, which he described as outrageous.

Sanctions included in the U.S. law "On the protection of human
trafficking victims" and its implementation does nothing but outrage,
affirmed the official in a communiqué made public by the ministry.

Dolgov underlined this new list contradicts the constructive
agreements recently outlined by President Vladimir Putin and his U.S. peer
Barack Obama in Northern Ireland during their meeting while the G-8 summit
was taking place.

Consistent with providing pretexts to justify sanctions imposed on other
nations that try to follow an independent path, the U.S. Department of
State included Russia in the lowest category within its annual report on
human trafficking.

The list includes Cuba, a country Washington has been blocking for more
than 50 years, China, Iran North Koream Syria, Uzbekistan, Algeria, Yemen,
Zimbabwe and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

This list is backed by a law that authorizes the United States to
implement punishments such as denying funding for cultural, academic
exchanges or vetoing the grant of financial aid of the International
Monetary Fund or the World Bank.

Such actions could come into force since October 1, unless Obama
decides to suspend its implementation for considering it damaging to
national interests, although they are already in force in countries
blocked such as Cuba.
