Cari amici,
vi mandiamo a fine anno un breve aggiornamento sulle nostre prossime attività.

Giovedì 6 dicembre al Festival Cimameriche
(<http://www.cimameriche.it/>http://www.cimameriche.it/) alle ore 12
nell'aula multimediale del Liceo Marconi Delpino presentazione della
puntata di Intrecci: sguardi sul mondo - America ieri
Il primo a rendersi conto che Cristoforo Colombo non era arrivato alle
Indie ma aveva "scoperto" un nuovo mondo, non fu il navigatore genovese, ma
un altro Italiano - Pietro Martire d'Anghiera; e da un altro Italiano -
Amerigo Vespucci - il continente prende il nome; così come molti altri
navigatori e viaggiatori, al servizio dei re di Spagna, Inghilterra e
Francia, lo esplorarono e descrissero. Tra questi merita di essere
ricordato Gerolamo Benzoni, che per primo descrisse, nella sua "Historia
del Mondo Nuovo" pubblicata nel 1565, le conseguenze tragiche della
conquista spagnola, oggi rivisitate dal punto di vista demografico da
Masssimo Livi Bacci.
Trecento anni dopo molti altri Italiani - tema di un recente convegno a
Genova - cominciarono a raggiungere l'America in cerca di quella libertà
che in patria era ancora un miraggio: un esempio per tutti quello del
milanese Antonio Raimondi, figura chiave nella conoscenza e valorizzazione
del Perù moderno, e simbolo dei rapporti tra i due mondi cementati dal
successivo arrivo di milioni di emigranti.

Il Festival si concluderà domenica 9 dicembre alla Francesca
(<http://www.villaggilafrancesca.it>http://www.villaggilafrancesca.it) con
il corso di cucina: "Non si solo pesto... basilico e dintorni" (iscrizioni
aperte).
Stiamo anche lavorando alla preparazione del secondo Incontro
sull'Informazione Indipendente, previsto sempre alla Francesca nell'aprile
2008.
Gli atti del 1° Incontro (10-11 marzo 2007) sono ora disponibili a richiesta.
Sarà presto in rete altr at milano.tv, il primo "esperimento" di TV milanese
via web.

just a short note to inform you about our future activities.
On Thursday December 6th, during the Festival Cimameriche
(<http://cimameriche.it/>http://cimameriche.it/), at 12.00 in the
Multimedia room of the Liceo Marconi Delpino, presentation of the episode
of the TV magazine Intrecci: sguardi sul mondo (Knots: glimpses on the
world) - America yesterday
The first one to realize that Cristoforo Colombo had not got to the Indies
but had "discovered" a new world was not the Genoese navigator himself, but
another Italian, Pietro Martire d'Anghiera. And from the name of another
Italian, Amerigo Vespucci, comes the word America. But many other
navigators and travellers, in service of the Spanish, English and French
monarchies, explored and described the continent. Among them Gerolamo
Benzoni, who first described - in his "Historia del Mondo Nuovo", published
in 1565 - the terrible consequences of the Spanish conquest, now revised
from Massimo Livi Bacci from the demographic viewpoint.
Three hundred years later many other Italians - subject of a recent meeting
held in Genoa - reached America looking for freedom, still a mirage in
their native land. Antonio Raimondi, for instance, gave an important
contribution the the knowledge and valorisation of the modern Peru and was
the symbol of the relationship between the two worlds.

The Festival will close on Sunday December 9th at La Francesca
(<http://villaggilafrancesca.it>http://villaggilafrancesca.it) with the
cooking course: "Not by pesto alone... basil and other plants "
(subscription opened).
We are also working at the 2nd Meeting on Independent Information, that
will take place at La Francesca on April 2008.
The records of the 1st Meeting (10-11 March, 2007) are now available on demand.
You will see soon altr at milanoo.tv, the first attempt of a Milanese TV on
the web.
In the meantime have our best wishes for a Merry Christmas and a Happy New
