A TALE OF TWO ISLANDS.
STORIA DI DUE ISOLE.

There are two isles.
Ci sono due isole.

One is big, one is little.
Una grande, una piccola.

One is rich and one is poor.
Una ricca e una povera.

One is a friend of USA, one is not.
Una è amica degli USA e l'altra no.

One uses the death penalty seldom; the other is the worst executioner in the world.
Una usa la pena di morte raramente, l'altra è il peggior boia del mondo.

Both are governed by totalitarian dictatorships.
In both the govern controls everything.
In both there is not freedom of thought and religion.
In both dissidents are harassed, jailed and tortured.
Entrambe sono governate da dittature totalitarie.
In entrambe il governo controlla tutto.
In entrambe non v'è libertà di pensiero e religione.
In entrambe i dissidenti sono maltrattati, imprigionati e torturati.

One is fingered as the worst country in the world. The other as the best pattern.
Una ci viene indicata come il peggior paese del mondo, l'altra come l'esempio da seguire.

But both Singapore and Cuba are not patterns for people who care of human rights.
Ma sia Singapore che Cuba non sono modelli per chi ha a cuore i diritti umani.

La Repubblica Romana fu il primo stato sovrano a scrivere nella propria costituzione l'abolizione
totale della pena di morte, il 3 luglio 1849. Il Comitato, ispirandosi alla tradizione libertaria ed
abolizionista del nostro Paese, si batte contro la pena di morte e per il rispetto dei diritti
umani indicati agli articoli  2 - 21 della Dichiarazione Universale.
The Roman Republic was the first state to write in its constitution the total abolition of the death
penalty, on 3rd July 1849. This Committee follows this tradition fighting against the death penalty
and for the human rights listed in the articles 2-21 of the Universal Declaration of 10th December
1948.
