Khartoum, Sudan

Sudan has concluded a deal with Alenia-Marconi, a British-Italian firm,
to procure a 21-million- dollar radar network to enhance the country's
aviation systems.

The Director of civil aviation, El Fatih Mekki, told reporters after both
sides signed the purchase agreement Saturday that the new radar
sets will improve air traffic in the country's airports as well as
facilitate
take-off and landing of aircraft.

He said the new systems meet the latest specifications in aviation
technology.

Also speaking at the occasion, Civil Aviation Minister, Shamboul
Adlan, said the new radar will also enhance navigation over Sudanese
airspace by other aircraft.

"We hope the new equipment will help attract international flights
crossing the country to other parts of the world, especially to the
Comesa member states'' he added.

la condurrò nel deserto
e parlerò al suo cuore.
Le renderò le sue vigne
e trasformerò la valle di Acòr
in porta di speranza.
Là canterà
come nei giorni della sua giovinezza,
come quando uscì dal paese d'Egitto.
