Iraq; "a right rollicking cock-up"

Donald Rumsfeld continued his bloody onslaught on civilian enclaves this
weekend by laying siege to the Iraqi city of Sadah. Most of the 2,000
desperately poor residents of the town have already been evacuated, leaving
the city vulnerable to the vast and predictable devastation that always
accompanies these unprovoked attacks. Judging by the appalling results
we've seen in Qaim, Falluja and Tal Afar, we can expect that water lines,
electrical power and sewage will b! e laid to waist as a form of collective
punishment against the townspeople. The ultimate purpose of the assault is
to break the back of the Sunni-dominated resistance by demolishing the "sea
in which they swim"; in this case the entire Sunni heartland. In the
process, the military is trying to erase whatever vestiges of Iraqi culture
still exist in the cities. By sweeping away the landmarks and icons of
national identity, the Pentagon hopes to assert the values of the dominant
culture by force. This is the main thrust of a plan to remake Iraqi society
into a "free market" economy...

The Iraqis Right to be Free

With the continuing US attacks on Iraqi population centres, the Bush
administration appeared more desperate than ever to force the new
US-crafted constitution on the Iraqi people. The attacks are concentrated
on Iraqi communities, who oppose the Occupation, to prevent them from
voting on the constitution in the upcoming referendum. The US aim is to
divide Iraqis on sectarian and ethnic lines and force them into
neo-colonial dependency. It is the Iraq! i people’s legitimate rights to
fight for their unity, freedom and national independence. Immediately after
the invasion of Iraq, the US and its junior partner, Britain, started the
division of Iraqis based on ethnic and sectarian lines. Then and for the
first time, "civil war" appeared in every Western newspaper and media
outlet. Iraq has been a non-sectarian mosaic society since it inception.
Iraqis see themselves to be Iraqis first, Muslim or Christian second...

...And then the military operations on Sunni areas like Tel Afar, Ramadi,
Qaim and Samarra began once again. The feeling has been that Sunni areas
are being intentionally targeted prior to the referendum to keep Sunnis
from voting. When your city is under fire, and you’ve been displaced with
your family to some Red Crescent tent in the middle of the desert, the last
thing you worry about is a constitution. Sunnis are being openly threatened
by Badir’s Briga! de people and the National Guard...

democracy, assuming the invasion of Iraq was about “installing democracy,”
when in fact this was nothing less than a second choice excuse following
the preferred excuse about Saddam’s non-existent weapons of mass
destruction. Bush and crew have no intention of “installing democracy” in
Iraq and it is amazing large numbers of Americans believe this, especially
after scads of! evidence to the contrary. As a cursory examination of
history reveals, the United States government and military have never been
in the business of “installing democracy” and in fact have consistently

these news items with a jaundiced eye: perhaps a pragmatic eye, - or if you
like ... I am pragmatic! If - and I say "If" - a democratic system has been
established, then why are Iraq’s "Allies" carrying out covert operations
inside the the puppet governement and police force? ...

the Iraqi civilian being killed by the personal security detail cowboys in
Iraq, is absolutely correct in what he has stated. I see these PSD people
every day in Baghdad and they are out of control. They run the highways at
extreme high speed, almost crash their vehicles, run people off the road,
shoot at everyone  Iraqis, Americans, it just does not! matter. There is
nothing professional about the services they perform. If they are trying to
impress the "principle" of the mission, then their "principle" is also

S. Korea -- An IRAQI Perspective

On September 11, 2005, the Peace Festival Beyond the De-Militarized Zone
(DMZ) in S. Korea came to an end (...) The Festival began in early August
with various world music ensembles from Asia, Africa, Australia and Europe
as well as soloists from the USA, Iraq, Palestine and Afghanistan to
accompany various Korean Symphony Orchestras. Not surprisingly, however, to
learn that the North Koreans were not invited, which put a glitch in the
PEACE ! mission of the Festival. Our Institute, INEAS, participated in this
Festival by promoting Iraqi and Palestinian musicians, signing a contract
as an agent for the Iraqi musicians (living in Jordan) to attend the
festival and perform in two concerts on August 26 & 27, and by having our
Institute’s founder, Wafaa’ Al-Natheema, participate in performing songs
and poetry...

correspondent in al-Qa'im reported that a short while earlier Dr. `Ali
ar-Rawi, the Director of the Emergency and Critical Reception Ward of
al-Qa'im General Hospital, said that 80 percent of the dead and wounded
that his facility had taken in so far in t! he US offensive have been women
and children. Dr. ar-Rawi confirmed that no bodies of Resistance fighters
nor even any wounded Resistance fighters had come to the hospital...

home in Springfield, MA. Charles was the student who was sprayed in the
face with mace by Officer Scott Landry at the protest against military
recruiters at Holyoke Community College on September 29. The ! notice read:
“Because of your conduct on the property of Holyoke Community College, your
presence is no longer desired at Holyoke Community College, its property or
buildings. Your failure to abide by said trespass notice will result in
your arrest and court prosecution for trespassing. This notice will remain
