No to the hegemony of U.S. in the world

 

In a letter dated 26.01.2010, sent by the White House to us – and certainly to many others – written by Valerie Jarrett, Senior Advisor to the President, it is said that the U.S. Administration want  "to rebuild the economy […] and to restore America's leadership in the world ".
The question is also to restore the U.S. leadership, the U.S. hegemony in the world.
Here is the mistake till now committed.

 

No people, no state should aspire to leadership, to hegemony over other states. In particular the large, populous, rich states – like the U.S., Russia, China – which are more easily tempted to become leader.

 

On the contrary, the principle of equality of all peoples and states in their dignity and rights, their political autonomy must be recognized.
Only one leadership can be recognized, only one authority which  does not oppose that autonomy,  that of the UN, namely of the planetary community of nations and states themselves.

 

For the U.S., the consequence is that, recognizing this principle, they must break down the hegemonic structures that they have built everywhere in the world, namely:
military bases scattered everywhere, and with an enormous waste;
fleets that cross the seas and oceans.
They have hitherto been a temptation to war, and in fact they led to two bloody wars,

unjust wars, because the war in its atrocious inhumanity is always unjust;
and because they violated the autonomy of sovereign states;
and finally they violated the fundamental principle of the UN treaty signed by the U.S., in which conflicts between peoples should always be resolved through negotiation, never by war.

 

The U.S., and President Obama in particular – who is presented as a President of peace, and has also obtained the Nobel Prize for peace – must promote, especially among the large states like Russia and China, an action for denial  of all claim to hegemony, an action that leads peoples to recognize themselves in a universal human brotherhood.

No all’egemonia degli USA nel mondo

 

In una lettera del 26/01/2010, inviata dalla Casa Bianca a noi – e certo a molti altri – a firma di Valerie Jarrett, Senior Advisor del Presidente, si dice “ricostruire l’economia […] e ristabilire la ledership dell’America nel mondo”.

Si tratta dunque di ristabilire nel mondo la leadership, l’egemonia degli USA nel mondo.

Qui sta l’errore finora commesso.

 

Nessun popolo, nessuno stato deve pretendere alla leadership, all’egemonia sugli altri stati. In particolare gli stati grandi, popolosi, ricchi – come gli USA, la Russia, la Cina – che a questo sono più facilmente tentati.

 

Dev’essere invece riconosciuto il principio di eguaglianza di tutti i popoli e gli stati nella dignità e nel diritto; quindi nell’autonomia politica. Di tutti, grandi e piccoli, ricchi e poveri.

Una sola leadership può essere riconosciuta, una sola autorità che quell’autonomia non contrasta,  quella dell’Onu, cioè della comunità planetaria dei popoli e degli stati stessi.

 

Per gli USA la conseguenza è che, riconoscendo questo principio, essi devono abbattere le strutture egemoniche  che hanno edificato ovunque nel mondo; e cioè

le basi militari sparse ovunque con enorme dispendio;

le flotte che incrociano ovunque  nei mari e negli oceani.

E che sono state finora una tentazione di guerra, e in realtà hanno portato a due guerre sanguinose, guerre ingiuste perché la guerra nella sua atroce inumanità è sempre ingiusta;

e perché violavano l’autonomia di stati sovrani;

e violavano infine il fondamentale principio sottoscritto dagli USA nel Trattato dell’Onu, che i conflitti tra popoli devono sempre essere risolti con la trattativa, mai con la guerra.

 

Gli Usa, e il Presidente Obama in particolare – che si è posto come Presidente di pace, e ha anche avuto il Premio Nobel per la pace – deve farsi promotore, specie presso i grandi stati come Russia e Cina,  di un’azione di rinunzia ad ogni pretesa di egemonia; un’azione che porti i popoli a riconoscersi in una universale fraternità umana.
